i know why Prometheans dissolve

ok so they are A.I. But if we look past that, they are made for fighting the flood, if the flood could infect them, (i know they are AI but i have not seen anything that says AI could not be infected, they can be turned rampant anyways) so the forerunners dont want the bodies to be left for the flood or rampancy, so they dispose of them, by burning them when they die…

I know it doesn’t work perfectly but what do you guys think of this

Except the Promethean AI we’ve seen are engineered, meaning they aren’t biological entities, rather machines. This means the Flood can’t infect them regardless.

as ive said its not perfect, but AI are prone to rampancy - and if they could be repaired as seen from mendicant bias(i think thats his name) they could be very deadly

They can’t be infected, it is simply to keep the flood from using them.

Nice theory.

Oh, I see. I didn’t read that last portion of your post. Your theory seems reasonable to me, but wouldn’t the rampancy nullify upon reparation?

Not exactly. While not infect-able, even Mendicant Bias wasn’t immune to control by the Gravemind.

It’s not simple control, it’s convincing.

I never said they were immune to exhortation.

But why is it that their weapons can also dissolve enemies?

I also remember reading somewhere that the Promethean Knights contain biological components, making them susceptible to flood infection.

Destroy their bodes so it can’t be reused by the spores (along with it being more effective weaponry and if they are fighting any biological enemies their bodies can’t be used for the flood.)

Now that I’ve thought more deeply into this: notice how the Knights have biological arms and such? It makes sense the Forerunner weapons would disintegrate living entities, considering it destroys the hosts for the Flood. That’s what the Halos are for after all: destroying potential Flood hosts.

Most likely to rid of the flood completely there wepon when shot at a full form flodd would get rid of the whole thing as to make sure no newfrom flood rebirths it…

What if someone was operating them or was in charge of manufacturing them? Then you got a factory making these things and being used against them. Or if the Watchers have a variant that can repair the fallen AIs to come back up?

Either way, it’s kinda smart to make sure if someone in charge of these things, their weapons won’t be pointed against you. :S
