I know why Halo 5 is called "Guardians" (shocking)

-Notice how in the E3 2013 trailer Master Chief is walking through a Desert?

-Notice how a bird-esque forerunner/promethean construct seems to act aggresive to Chief?

-Notice how chief is in the middle of nowhere?

I’m going to explain how this all makes sense, and why the game is called Halo 5: GUARDIANS.

In most Halo multiplayer games, if the spartan leaves the map and dies, or they are killed by an NPC on the map, it says “you were killed by the guardians”. The guardians in Halo 3 are depicted as forerunner constructs. The forerunner towers in sandbox shoot you if you leave the map boundry. The same thing happens in snowbound, except forerunner turrets shoot you. The Guardians seem to be forerunner creations.

Sandtrap is a desert map, and its guardians are forerunner land mines. Players can bypass the the minefield if they overload the map with explosives.

The premise of Halo 5: Guardians’ story is that Master Chief is walking through the map Sandtrap, he overloaded the map with explosives to bypass the forerunner (guardians) minefield, and has gone beyond the maps '‘out of bounds’ region. That is why in the trailer you see the chief walking through nothing but desert, he is ‘out of bounds’. The game developers are mad at the Chief for bypassing the barriers so they send out more guardians to kill him, so he can return/respawn in the proper map zone. The game developers (343i) are the forerunners, the creators of the guardians, they are the antagonists of the story because they want you to play the game in a certain way rather than be free. Chief has gotten fed up for following the same gameplay structure for 10+ years and has decided to go rogue, not only from the UNSC, but from the developers as well. He does this by disobeying the developers and leaving Sandtrap’s boundaries.

Why do you think 343i keeps changing Halo and dividing the fanbase? Master Chief has been doing the same thing for so many years, they want to please him with a fresh experience. They warned us, they told us the Chief is a human and is tired of being a puppet.
"Halo 4 is about delving into Chief’s humanity" -343i.
"Master Chief is human, he’s not a machine, he’s not a robot"- Kiki Wolfkill,
"She said that to me once, bout being a Machine" -Master Chief.

Thats right, the Master Chief is more than just a fictional character, and a few lines of code in a video game. He IS human! Thats what Halo 4 was all about! Despite 343i warning us, It is too late. The Master Chief has snapped and gone rogue. Not rogue from the UNSC, but rogue from the Halo series and its fanbase. He’s tired of it all and wants to be free.

The developers being restrictive control freaks, have programmed a better guardian. A guardian more efficient than the minefield, the snowbound turrets, the sandbox towers… they created a giant bird-esque Promethean construct to hunt down and kill the Master Chief so he can respawn in the proper area so their game isn’t broken. The Master Chief clearly doesn’t want to be found, so he has used a brown cloak (as seen in the E3 trailer) to keep a low profile.

The whole premise/story of Halo 5: Guardians campaign is the developers constantly developing and creating new and more powerful guardians to hunt down the Chief and return him to the boundaries of sandtrap. 343i has always talked about Chief questioning his humanity and this is the ultimate test. Chief no longer wants to be a puppet of his developers or be forced to stay within arbitrary boundaries. He is tired of being killed by guardians or seeing “return to battlefield” appear on his HUD, he wants to be free.

TLDR?:

-Notice how in the e3 2013 trailer Master Chief is walking through a Desert? He’s in the map Sandtrap.

-Notice how a bird-esque forerunner/promethean construct seems to act aggressive to Chief? That’s a Guardian (the ULTIMATE GUARDIAN) trying to return him to the boundaries of the map.

-Notice how chief is in the middle of nowhere? He has left the boundries of sandtrap and is now in an endless desert that the developers didn’t decorate.
Watch the E3 trailer again, you will never see it the same way…

When the chief looks at Cortana’s chip he remembers her words “Before this is over, promise me you will figure out which one of us is the machine”. Remembering Cortana, Master Chief has the confidence to face this Guardian, for he is a human, and he will fight for his freedom, freedom from Sandtrap’s ‘kill boundries’.

But hey that’s just a theory… a SPARTAN 12124 THEORY!

You have just crossed over into… THE TWILIGHT ZONE

Halo 5’s campaign breaks the fourth wall.

Sir, those are Covie turrets. The prophets have something to do with this.

“The whole premise/story of Halo 5: Guardians campaign is the developers constantly developing and creating new and more powerful guardians to hunt down the Chief and return him to the boundaries of sandtrap”

All I’m hearing is Shadow of the Colossus: Halo Edition.

Umm . . . interesting theory but, uh . . . yeah. I’m kind of speechless.

  • 3 points listed at the beginning of original post

  • 3 Guardians outlined

  • 3 quotes listed

Half-Life 3 confirmed

“We are Forerunners, Guardians to all that exist,”

-Didact

Just adding this to the list of things that guardians could mean, that means we have…

  1. Prophets involved
  2. Forerunner construct involved
  3. Halo 3 Guardians
  4. Actual living Forerunners

What else can we get?

So honestly, it is very unlikely that any of us actually know what guardians means.

10/10 would read again

So Chief thought he go down to the Sandtrap with SIV’s to exercise, but in the middle of the game he went AWOL, because why not so he escaped from Sandtrap…and to stop him 343i sent a Forerunner.
I understand…

What a theory…

Surely you mean Sandtarp? lol

Wait! Where do Locke and ONI fit in? Is Serin Osman secretly a 343i member?

Lol strong everything

Huge if true…

This is the best thing I’ve ever read

insert Rod Serling monologue here

It is possible that the flood may be the guardians, since they used to be precursors.

more likely the precursors alone, time and fate alone are the guardians, and the precursors could control time and fate, and shapeshift and do ANYTHING because they were so technologically advanced. Tier 0.

This is actually quite a good theory and nothing like expected it to be.

11 out of 10 to you
