Note this is what i think, and it is a conspiracy but i think its actually very likely, “in the end what you believe is yours to decide.”
343i will not implement a visable csr rank in-game is because they do not want to change the match up system.
I theorize that one csr is up you will not be pared against people who have a rank close to your own, instead the game will continue to match you with the current incredibly flawed “True skill” system.
343i doesn’t want to change our current match system
(Whether because they think its good, they can’t, or they don’t want to)
and they realize if they make it visible to players who get matched with each other, people are going to instantly realize how the ranking system doesn’t match you with people of your rank and people will complain even harder than they do now, and continue to quit.
makes sense?
Yes and no.
Yes, vigr would show that the skill on your team widely varies and would appear as though it is a bad match.
But… You will notice the opposing team has the same wide range of skill and if you averaged one teams skill values and compared with the other teams skill values… The teams are pretty well matched and the imbalance only happens once people start quitting.
So yes, visible in game ranks would bring the system into view of every one but its still a pretty good system for making fast interesting matches…
So no, it’s not a good reason to be afraid of making VIGR…
Or maybe they don’t want to implement it because of all the jerks who exploited it…
Boosters, goldfarmers, stuck-ups. Oh my!
In game ranks was something that was never planned to be in the game from the beginning. That was wrong to do. They have made a lot of changes that should have been tested by fans. Yes they may be trying to fix some mistakes, but some of the things they did were very unwise. The point is that we all now no that CSR will not be in game for halo 4 so we should just quit talking about the fact that it is not in halo 4 and how it is dumb AND ASK FOR IT IN HALO 5.
No.
Instead, please blame all the people from Halo 2 and 3 who abused the ranking system by boosting, buying/selling, and etc for people not doing visible ranks anymore.
Basically, they ruined your fun and skill systems, aint 343’s fault that certain people had to ruin it for everybody.

I’d rather face a team of all of those then not know what I’m facing.
not really… all they have to do is put back the ranking system in Halo 3. That system seems to debunk your theory well enough…

Implying boosters aren’t still rampant? Just because they aren’t boosting for ranks doesn’t mean they aren’t there.
Stuck ups are still here too. And besides, if you take someone seriously over an internet game, I’ve got news for you buddy.
Don’t let a few bad apples ruin an orchard.

The TrueSkill system is actually incredibly accurate (and it is my understanding that Halo 3’s ranking system is almost completely identical).
The difference is not how it works, but how it’s used.
The majority of xbox live games use TrueSkill in one way or another. Even Halo 3’s social playlists used it. What made Halo 3’s ranked playlists so different is that the searching system enforced match ups between people of similar skill while the social playlists (And Halo 4’s search system) only use it as a loose guideline and are by no way restricted by it.
IE: Halo 3 ranked playlist would only ever match up players who’s skill is +/-10 that of the highest ranked person in a party.
Halo 3 Social/Halo 4 playlists will try to match up people of similar skill but if this can not be achieved quickly (which is most of the time) then exceptions are made.

True skill is broken and Halo 3 is a prime example of this. It was so easy to rank up it bunched a large amount of people at the top even though the skill difference between them was vast. Most halo 50’s in halo 3 where 25 or up in halo 2. How do 25 ranks in one game equate to 1 in another.
However Halo 4 does use true skill to pair people right now but it is hidden. Every XBOX live game must have a true skill pairing system per -Yoink!-. With CSR they are making this hidden true skill visible on waypooint. This is the reason why they said they will reset everyone’s rank once CSR comes out(they where not talking about the 130 sr ranks). They are talking about the hidden true skill. I think (not 100%) Halo 4 uses a pairing system that halo 3 social playlist used. It uses true skill but pools from a larger group of ranks opposed to halo 3’s ranked playlist where it only searched 5 ranks up and 5 ranks down. That or because of the low population Halo 4 need to pull from a larger pool of players to make a game.
Or maybe because it’s impossible to edit the UI so extensively?
