I know there have been posts about Roadmaps before

…but I have a more specific question about it all.

Almost all AAA games that release these days have a DLC/Update path laid out well in advance, usually with Standard, Deluxe, Gold and/or Ultimate editions of the game available with that extra content potentially included, and the developers almost always lay out their future plans for the game even in advance of it’s release.

I get that there are going to be the season passes and the store for multiplayer, but I fully expected an announcement of a couple of future content pieces for the campaign, with maybe a “Year 1” pass that covers that content (or something similar) as that seems to be the go-to for almost every title that releases these days. And I also expected them to announce a map pack or similar for the multiplayer, possibly as free content so as not to exclude anyone from playing specific maps with the FTP model they’ve adopted.

The fact that there has been none of this is truly baffling.

So why do we think that we have had none of this with Infinite? Is it just 343 playing things close to their chest? Or do they genuinely not have a plan for how the game is going to progress and are just making it up as they go along?

The vague roadmap we have is just for what missing things they couldn’t put in on release day, like coop and forge. Honestly seems like technical issues on their end, like the game as a piece of software just isn’t feature complete yet. So there’s not really a content roadmap because it’s not even a question of content so much right now, rather it’s an engineering problem. Which also means it is prone to delays if things don’t work. They should absolutely release a roadmap, but tbh the game’s kinda busted internally by the sounds.

(btw, I totally agree the game needs more content desperately, it’s just maybe not top priority for them when btb, customs, coop and forge all don’t physically work or aren’t present)

We haven’t gotten anything because 343 launched a live service game with no concrete plans for the live service lol. That’s the only valid reason that we don’t have a roadmap yet. 343 doesn’t know when or what kind of content they’ll be releasing

They can’t even fix BTB in a timely manner. I honestly would like a roadmap but I don’t even know if I’d trust 343 to live up to it at this point.

I’m personally curious about the legal ramifications of releasing a game with claims as “live service” without actually serving it. False advertisement? Certainly in my mind, but also most likely not in a legal sense.

Their inability to fix BTB and the fact that it took them a month and a half just to remove BTB challenges signals to me something is very wrong behind the scenes.

I cant see forge or coop campaign functioning well when they are finally released.

Like so many others I’ve been holding out hope and playing the game still because I’m a huge fan but the writing on the wall is becoming clearer and we’d be in denial to ignore it.

Lmao yeah. They added campaign and it ruined BTB for 1.5 months. I can’t imagine how bad the game will break when they start adding BIG things like forge and functioning custom games browsers

We have a road map, it is co-op season 2, forge season 3, and new store content daily.

It is really more of a general direction then a map though. More specifically, a general direction of “go back and finish what we wanted to have done at launch, but also sell all the stuff that we did manage to finish”

I think it was today that Joseph Staten said a road map would be coming out soon (ish), which is cool because 343 has done a pretty bad job of communicating and talking to the community, I personally can wait for a road map (I’m not playing halo at all right now, I’m just on these forums praying they fix literally anything), but if they come out with a road map and DELAY stuff on the road map like that have a bad habit of doing, I will gently toss myself into traffic.

Well now you’ve got me trying to picture how someone would do that gently. Thanks for that.
