I know its denounced...

Fellows at 343…

Thank you for continuing halos saga.

I understand the denounce of a battle royal game type and to not focus on that.

Please produce what the halos have known in the past, a great campaign and a complete multiplayer.

I’ve watched the interview with Bonnie Ross where she disclosed the possibilty of a battle royal and I urge you guys to think differently about this topic. You could make it custom to what halo has always been. I’ve watched what the engine can do with this last year of updates and its astonishing to me that battle royal is already ruled out of focus. I’m afraid for halo as a franchise. Something I grew up with could easy be taken into the wind with games coming out now. Battle Royal is running competitive gaming. Completely. 2 FREE GAMES on xbox have changed the way gamers today view competitive gaming. To me, halo is different; because I believe you could do a battle royal mode. The thing is, with halo competitive it adapts. For instance, the migrate from halo 2 - halo 3, ultimately completely different games competitively. Halo 2 being the most fast paced competitive game of the xbox and halo 3 being the most strategical game of the xbox 360. With the xbox’s Project Scarlett what if I said you could have both.

Halo 2, 3 Reach & 4 consisted of 4 players, I didn’t play halo 5 competitive so I can’t comment. We can keep that. “We” (Halo Community) should also have a Battle Royal configuration. The game has a spectacular engine with enormous capabilities. This is possible. Don’t make it a forge type of configuration. Spend time on it. I’m unsure of apex’s type into their unique field of battle royal but as far as quality they have deemed themselves.

Imagine.

There is a competitive tournament where 4 players enter. Battle Royal decides there seed in the tournament. Then the rest of the tournament is fought out in original 4v4 hardcore style game configurations.

This could dominate the gaming industry and I hope this post at least picks somebodies brain within 343.

Until then

Happy fighting everyone,

Guddo.

I love the effort you put in, but I would downvote this a million times if I could.

No. Halo does not need to copy the gimmicky crap that every other franchise is spewing out. I have the utmost faith in the slipspace engine as well and believe that 343i can use it to develop a gametype that is unique to Halo and not a rehash of a gametype that’s been milked dry.

I can’t agree with OP. Everything about ‘battle royale’ hurts the games industry, I kind of want the genre to die down a bit, generally hate the genre.
I’d rather 343i focus on making a proper Halo game, innovating in ways that are actually fun instead of just jumping onto whatever trend is currently over-saturating the market at the time. There’s so many new idea’s 343i could have, BR mode is not something that should just be in every game for the sake of it.

The only thing that happens into my head when these threads keep happening is:

Why does this keep happening?

I could give you the rundown on why a BR is in actuality harmful, but I’ve done it so many times I just don’t care anymore. I mean, there’s already a thread on this made today.

Halo needs to be Halo. Not Fortnite. Not PUBG, BO4, Battlefield V. It needs to be Halo.

Guys I kind of get it but it’s considerably not a trend, its been around since before master chief collection was announced. Players in Arma produced it first with a mod. A mod. Not the game. A mod. Im saying that it would potentially be an increase in revenue. Im not saying this in anyway negatively about halo. I love halo. Mainly halo 2 / halo 1 but to completely deny a battle royal is absurd. Fortnite could fork the money for the same conglomerate of engine and supersede them based on popularity. Bring classic halo matchmaking mechanics back with a killer campaign and a battle royal mode? How can you argue that?

Last week’s topic was reach’s TU settings. This weeks is Battle Royale for infinite, and how green armor should or shouldn’t be I really can’t wait for next week,
On the issue of battle Royale it works best on the free to okay model halo mainline games aren’t that model and never will be.

Recent Halos have a trend of trying out an experimental game mode.
Halo: Reach had Invasion
Halo 4 had Spartan Ops
Halo 5 had Warzone

I can honestly say I would prefer a well-executed Battle Royale to all of those modes. Especially if we still get the standard 10-15 MP maps and game modes…and DLC.

Lol Halo followed all these bad trends over the years, and the one decent trend that actually works, and there’s a market for, people don’t want them to follow?

Above all, I do want classic Halo gameplay back though. It’s not a priority but I’d like to see their attempt at Battle Royale.

You realize a majority of the top streamers today on twitch playing battle royal were once halo kids right?

No. The last thing Halo needs to do right now is to follow more gimmicky trends. I miss when Halo used to establish trends in the industry, not blindly follow them to the detriment of its unique gameplay and image. But I don’t even expect 343 to revolutionize anything. I just want Halo to return to its roots.

What relevance does that have to the issue of whether halo should have a battle Royale format or not?

The fact that a majority of the kids watching the streamers (my nephew for instance) age 7 wants to play the games the streamers are playing. Actually I cant think of a top streamer that isn’t consistently playing a battle royal.

So essentially by your logic your saying halo should get streamers to play it so then the kids will think it’s cool and they will play it as well?

Yeah nah I can’t be bothered furthering this discussion.

Its funny were arguing over a game that decides the future of the franchise because if this is a flop. Like the past 3 games. Ill never buy another halo again. Ill just continuously run halo h1 / h2 on mcc.

I don’t think you can make a BR with Halo. Its weapons and vehicle balance coupled with its movement mechanics aren’t suited to battle royal.

You would need to separate balance sets for BR and Standard/Competitive playlists, and I really don’t see that happening.

If it’s got to sell its soul to twitch streamers to be popular with the kids its gonna be garbage anyway and shouldn’t go any further as a franchise. Fortnite is for kids, halo isn’t.

The settings are very easy to configure in custom games/forge.
With the capabilities of Halo: Infinite, I don’t think a dedicated battle royale mode is needed. I’d rather resources go elsewhere.

And if I’ve learned anything, Halo following trends doesn’t go well lol

And Halo Infinite will most likely be 60$.
I’d argue that one of the reasons those two games are big, aside from appealing gameplay, is that they are free and thus easily accesible.

You do realise that the gameplay on BR would require different balancing than the “normal” modes.

Furthermore, what exactly would be Halo’s appealing thing with its own BR mode to someone who’s already invested into one of the many MANY BR games out there?
Why would a player invested into Apex or Fortnite suddenlt pay 60$ to get access to Halo’s BR?

Imagine that people aren’t asking for the next big thing in Halo, but rather want the past’s and current thing to be in Halo tomorrow, when the now big thing may not be that appealing anymore.

No. Battle Royale along with Games As A Service are toxic blights that never should have happened. Gaming is worse because of their existence, just like lootboxes and other microtransactions. I’ll even throw eSports and MOBAs into the ring, just so I can nail all the things I utterly despise that exist or have existed in gaming the past few years.

I’m tired of battle royales.
