I am a Silver 5. But I keep getting match against Gold and Platinum. I want to play people closer to my skill ranking because I keep getting destroyed. And it doesn’t help I get bad teammates too. I had a teammate that got 0 kills last night. Your matchmaking system is broken.
The game’s population is pretty low.

There is no proof of that outside of most popular lists…
Of which halo is #11 so its doing great
There are 20 million xbox ones out there so anything in the top 20 is amazing
TMCC is at 25
The game that won all of the game of the year awards witcher 3 is at #36…
So saying top 1-10 is all that matters is BS
I’m onyx 1900 and play champs i’m not complaining just gotta get better at the game my man practice practice and practice, all I can say playing people better then you makes you get better trust me

Lol, what?
Outside of the top 10 is bad and it is effecting matchmaking.
Yup.
Double-digit Champions consistently face low Platinum players (that’s three, arguably more, divisions lower) and sometimes even lower than that. People are in deep denial about the state of this game. The system is essentially saying, "Oh, sorry, we couldn’t find ONE suitable player searching at the same time as you in the same division (or three).

20 million xbox ones
That leaves a possible 1 million people per game in the top 20…
Halo 5 sold at least 2-3 million copies so youre saying that many people left? Lol right

Don’t listen to this guy. Being matched against higher ranks just means you’re playing on their level. There’s a hidden matchmaking rating (MMR) that works behind your rank, so visible rank is effectively just for show. If you’re playing well, you’ll be matched up against higher ranks so you have a theoretical “better game”. If you’re not playing so well, you’ll be matched against lower ranks until you start playing better.

If the game thinks you’re Onyx level, it’d rate you as such. It shouldn’t take a Platinum player and match them over and over again with insurmountable matches against players it says are 2 divisions higher.
So I have to start playing like -Yoink-? Odds are it’s using my Arena playing style to match me in Warzone, but my fighting style is useless there! I need someone that can hold position there, not someone who run out there to fetch random kills…

Earlier today, on a sunday, at peak population times, Halo 5 had less than 57k players online. Thats not good for a Halo game, and its even worse for a skill-based ranking system considering that most of those players are playing Warzone.
cool

Give me a Microsoft certified source that had population numbers
Until then all low population claims are incorrect as there is no data from the source
I mean you don’t use VGchartz or something like that do you xD

This is after qualification, if you qualify in platinum but you’re really an onyx, it’ll match you against onyx players. It stops people who tank their placement matches on purpose and get bronze just to kill noobs. You’ll be matched against people your skill level, not your rank.
Same for me and my friends. No idea why that is happening.

Because you’re all playing better than your rank. You should be pleased, it’s a good thing. Even though you’re not getting even ranked games you should be of even skill.

Some people play with teammates who are lower ranks, we do it all the time. If you see a random platinum in a game it’s normally the other team in a party.

Your rank is supposed to be a direct reflection of your skill level. Either way, this system is nonsensical. A ranking should tell you as accurately and quickly as possible where you stand, not blatantly attempt to mislead you and treat the ranking system as a progression system.

I constantly see full teams of double-digit Champions face full teams of those under Onyx - frequently all Platinums to be more exact. That’s ridiculous. A team of Platinums should never face a team of Champions. It should not be a situation feasible to happen.
-Yoink-, a team of low Onyxs shouldn’t even be able to face a team of Champions. Halo 3 didn’t match 50’s against low 40’s, and it surly didn’t match 50’s against 30’s, which is essentially what this ridiculous system does. I guess, what can you do when player retention is lower than ever?

I think they had it set up to try and have games start faster than try and get more accurate match ups. after so long of searching without finding someone in the same category it broaden ups the search and then keeps going until a match begins.
