I keep getting booted!

I have had no problems the first two months of this games release. No lag, no randomly getting booted, no game crashing. But the last week. I’ve been getting some lag, but I have been booted from games and sent to the main menu 7 times in the last two days. And countless others in the past week or so. I played battlefield 4 to see if it was my internet connection (which I checked multiple times after each boot) and my internet seems fine. I did not lag on battlefield 4 at all or loose connection to servers. So it’s obviously halo servers. Does the digital game have anything to do with it? Has anyone experienced this? I’m starting to dislike the game simply because I don’t know if everytime I play it will be a waste of time. I’ve wasted boost on warzone matches. And countless weapons, Norfang, phaeton, wraiths, ect…anyone know if it happens to many people? Should I uninstall the game and go get a hard copy? Please let me know.

Have you opened the ports for H5 on your router? Some isp’s have short dns lease times, you can counteract that by setting your xbox to energy saver. The xbox will do a full boot every time you turn it on and will refresh the cache. Check out this thread for ports I opened. https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/forums/6e35355aecdf4fd0acdaee3cc4156fd4/topics/lost-connection-fix/1a18836e-2215-4478-a085-52317507cf9d/posts?page=1#post11Article on easy port forwarding. Your service record doesn’t indicate an inclination to quit often, though all of your DNFs showed losses for the team, some of them pretty bad.

Your Arena record doesn’t show many DNFs at all in the past few weeks, let alone days. There are more in Warzone, but only 6 in the past three days. You’ve played a substantial number without incident.

Your connection could be experiencing sudden drops. Even if it works well for another game for a few rounds, if you continued to play Battlefront 4 as much as you’ve been playing Halo 5, I’d say you might see the same things there, too.

Yeah I don’t play arena much. And I never quit games. I don’t care if I lose I just have fun. And plus why quit when even a loss in warzone is 1,800 req points. So I never quit. Anyways I am visiting the guys site he sent me before you. But do you have any suggestions?

I think I have it on energy saving. That’s the one where you can’t say “Xbox on” you have to actually press the power button right? And what do you mean H5 ports?

Call your ISP and complain about dips in speed? I really don’t know. I’m not really an IT guy, but I have similar problems from time to time. I hear ISPs throttle bandwidth for various reasons. If you have Comcast, I hear they are particularly evil.

Xbox live and PSN have been having major problems lately. I was barely able to get into a party chat last night until 8:00 est. The guess is that there is another DDOS attack happening. Similar to what the Lizard Squad did last year at Christmas time.

I have Comcast. Pay for the highest speed. It’s just odd, I have no problems browsing the Internet on my iPad, watching Netflix, or anything. Just halo 5 lol.

Click the links it will explain port forwarding (it’s easy). You don’t need very much speed to play online games, you just need a stable connection. I only have a 6Mb download and 1 Mb upload and I used to have lots of disconnects, opened up my ports and switched to energy saver and I only have issues when the servers actually fail. (2 times since launch)

Online gaming is more like a voip telephone call than internet browsing, completely different set of protocols. Halo 5 is a bit picky on it’s connection.

I just got booted 2 more times today. Almost at the end of the game.

I also have a digital copy and keep dropping from games around every fourth or fifth one from Arena and about every and about every third from war zone. I just set up my forward port and I’m going to try out and see if it works ,if you still need to do this go to YouTube and search how to forward port Xbox one

I’ve been getting this too. Just now got booted. Game returned to the home screen… Or the "B"Quit Activity. “2 squares” Carnage Report… “3 dashes” Spartan Hub screen.

I was just trying out my new H2 BR too.

I had this same problem. My H5 was perfectly fine on day one; but after or around the Dec update, I get kick randomly some days. I’ll be in the middle of a match (it’s always a great match too) and my screen goes straight to the main menu. No loading or message or anything. I check my waypoint for a DNF message, but no. The game never registered as a match. Either way, I still loose any boots I had active and reqs I may have spent. :frowning: please fix 343
BTW: this Ultra-Rarely happens to me; but when it does, it’s bad. It’ll happen all day. I have to play Battlefront, which works perfectly fine.

It is either xbox live or Comcast. If you are connecting to the xbox via wi-fi it does not matter that you are paying for the highest speed. Since I very rarely get disconnected, only during an outage of live, I would say the culprit is comcast. If you are using ethernet, and this is happening, it is likely your router / NAT settings, or Comcast.

I know million and one comments- is this just arena or? Cause ranked is where I have the problem, never been booted before from a game.
