I am from the UK, I am constantly being placed in matches with incredibly high ping with players in America. This makes the game almost unplayable! Surely I should be matched with players closest first of all? 343i is obviously trying to bring Halo back to COMPETITIVE gaming so why am I and many other EU players being sent to servers thousands of miles away? I wouldn’t mind if I played in laggier matches of Warzone or any future social playlists, that’s fine however in competitive arena I do want to be at a huge disadvantage … sometimes 400ms delay against players that are living within a few hundred miles of the server location. At Onyx towards the higher levels I was matched with MLG pro Walshy on my team which while I was glad that I got to meet him … I still went negative one with 14 assists I just couldn’t finish any kills because it was far too laggy and when I watch Walshy’s stream the game looks lag free on his side.
This is the best Halo multiplayer since Halo 3 and I would honestly love to continue playing this game however if this issue is not addressed soon then I will be forced to quit as it’s not fair that I should need to play in lag when my internet connection is the best you can buy in the UK. I bought a new monitor, a new Xbox and xbox live all to play Halo MCC as I thought this game would bring Halo back and the community would be strong once again however after that huge disappointment I was reluctant to even purchase Halo 5 however I thought 343 would have learned from their mistakes please fix the ping parameters!
On a side note if there’s any EU/UK players reading this add me: Eccentric Steve and I will try to get a party for arena of only EU players to see if this makes it so we only connect to EU servers.
I hope 343 looks into this… I wish games would let you choose server for matchmaking, I dont understand why that feature suddently dissapeared in all games.

I completely agree this option would be great, on Halo 3 I used to get host quite often so it made up for the lag that I had to put up with on US host however now I don’t even get the excitement of host I just get to spray and pray on random US servers… not fun at all.
yup it gets worse as alot of EU players have given up. Before if you played during the day, uk time that is your have a better chance to find people in your region. Now that nothing has been done about it , its like no matter what time you play your most probably going to play against US players. So yeh playing halo right now in the EU is basicly playing on dial up. good times have fun

Yeah the longer this goes unfixed the worse it’s going to get … my hopes is if they fix this issue soon and DLC releases Eu players should come back and realise it’s fixed and then maybe all will be well however I doubt this will ever be resolved
Same here i would love to get a group going just for EU guys as many as poss and setup custom games etc would connect us to the EU servers for sure then Would be a good stopgap in the meantime to see if they will address this. Maybe they will fit it in with when they update the UI.

Let’s hope they sort this crap! add me man, trying to get as many EU players on my friend’s list as possible
