I Just Wanted to Switch Grenades!

This happened to me a few times lately. I would be playing in War Games, and I would get an ordnance drop. I would save it for later cause I already am carrying a power weapon. Later as I’m playing, I pick up some grenades, and I wish to switch to the newly pick-up grenades.

The result?

I accidentally waste my ordnance drop, and end up picking something lame like Speed Boost when I could have picked a Beam Rifle.

Anyone else have this problem? Should 343i change the button for switching grenades? This has already happened to me a couple times, and I hate to think that I can’t switch grenades when I have an ordnance drop waiting for me.

Perhaps in the next update they could fix this?

This used to happen to me ALL THE TIME. Usually what happens is that I earn the OD but there is a guy nearby. I go to switch to stickies, drop my ordinance, throw a frag that bounces off his face, get confused, die…lose my ordinance.

Or something like that.

When I first started playing 4, I was used to having the A button as the grenade switch so I would try to switch and toss my grenade, but I would wind up sprinting instead (I use bumper jumper)

It doesn’t happen as often anymore, but still…it makes me sad to either waste a damage boost or something sweet, or end up dead because of a button problem :-\

LB should have been solely reserved for grenade swap. I would have been find with using another button for AAs

I honestly dont have a problem then again i dont care what grenade im using since i just look up at the corner and use the grenade accordingly.

I never had this problem.

i use the ordnance soon as i get it so i never have this issue.

I run into the same exact problem. It’d be nice if they’d make a simple change like one of these:

 • Hold X and Press Dpad
 • Press Back to Open Ordnance (You would still see the Scoreboard during a death, but even though I’m offering it as an idea, I do tend to open the Scoreboard while alive if it’s getting close at the end.)

However, the one I’d vote for is either “Press Dpad Down to Open Ordnance, Press Corresponding Button (X,Y,A,B) for Ordnance,” or “Hold Down on Dpad and Press X,Y,A,B.” (much preferred- I’d rather still have the Ordnance open automatically so that I don’t forget it’s ready, or what my options are.) Why? Because I’m really tired of getting an Overshield instead of a Beam/Sniper Rifle. To say that the original Microsoft-branded 360 controllers have a -Yoink- Dpad is giving them far too much credit- I’m not even remotely close to pressing Right, so how that happens is beyond me. But yeah- this would alleviate both problems.

I can say, this has happened to me as well, very frustrating,

Dude. Yes. Happens to me far too often. I use explosives as resupply so I am always picking up/using grenades. It’s beyond annoying when I make the mistake to switch while I have a ordinance. I try my hardest to pay attention to it, but in the heat of battle it still happens all the time.

This definitely needs to but won’t be fixed. Sigh…

Doesn’t happen for me.

If I have an Ordnance Drop available and I already have one,or sometimes two power weapons, I’ll give someone else my Ordnance if possible.

And, if I am in a game where I am sniping and I get an Ordnance Drop, I’ll drop it beside me and leave it alone because it does not disappear. That way you can earn another Ordnance Drop and then decide what to do with the two you have. Comes in handy playing this way.

And, on other occasions, just because I have a OD, I might not call it in until I’m indoors or out of site/behind cover.OD outdoors can give your location away, you can get killed before even using it and so on. On the other hand, ODs indoors instantly appear without any fan fare and all is good.
