I just thought of something OP....

OK so I’m not one to complain but I was just watching an MLG Halo 4 video and I noticed something. @ 6:30 in this video a player calls in overshield which is completely fine with me. When you pick up overshield you’re nearly unbeatable. I can see this being a very over-used baiting tactic. Call OS… Wait… Pick it up right before someone else get’s to it. It’s like a free kill every single time. I think that if you pick up OS while getting shot at it shouldn’t do anything for you. You should have to really think about when you want to place and pick up OS.

I believe one of the MLG guys made mention of this as well. I could see how it could be a problem if not dealt with. If this is indeed a problem 343 still has time to adjust and if they are smart they’ll have a lot more ways to adjust settings post release as well.

I wouldn’t really call exploiting the intlligence of others as OP myself.

I noticed that OS seemed OP in general. Especially as its so easy for anyone to earn now. I think I’ll be calling that in each time rather than a Scatter shot.

As 343 said, they have a lot of tweaking to do before the game comes out.

Yeah one of the MLG players said he used PV and had this as a drop and it was overpowering. Went some thing like 24-2.

Just as it was in previous games, where you were invisible until the over shield had charged fully, no amount of damage would kill you until the bar was full, it would just recharge. A very cheap but yet so very simple and effective tactic ^^
Well, it should be fixed, simple as that. Either give the player “full” over shield at once, or it should stop reloading when shot, even if it’s far from “charged”. That way you have to call it in and use it at fore hand to get “full shield” when the enemies appear.

Then again, thy still got to fix ProVision and some other things, I can’t believe anyone would call what we’ve seen so far balanced, it’s simply not (fact, not opinion).

I hope they make it great I don’t want a ton of different settings over time and 365 TU I just want the best game out of the box for everyone…

Yeah but if you paid attention when he picked up OS, he didn’t get the OS while he was being shot at but as it was in Halo 3, if you picked up OS while being shot at, you were invincible. Or is this the issue you were referring to that you didn’t like?

I’m not too fond of the OS being an ordinance drop

Maybe if it’s something small but big enough to give you an edge like 1.5x OS. And have it power up instantly or like OP said and have it stop powering up if you take damage while it’s charging because baiting someone behind a corner, picking up the overshield, then having 3 seconds of invulnerability is kinda broken.

My main issue is the length in which you’re invincible. It should be like before when you we’re only invincible when the shield is recharging. Maybe include something like the amount of damage you take while invincible determines how fast the OS drains

In Halo 3 the OS spawned in one spot. It could be used in baiting attempts. In Halo 4 you get to call in OS. So not only will their be more per match but it will seriously slow Infinity Slayer down like crazy. A ton of people will use this tactic for sure. Call it in when you know people are coming and wait til they are close to pick it up and kill the enemy. If OS remains the same it’s going to be a complete disaster.

I noticed this as well and it seems like you have temporary invincibility. OS needs to be adjusted, but I’m sure 343i knows that and there still is time.

If Plasma weaponry can still do more damage to shields at a faster rate than human weaponry, I can see an effective counter to it.

However, like 343 and the MLG guys said, the game’s still a work in progress and things are still getting tweaked as we speak.

I can’t wait to coordinate with my friends, drop 3 pods, pick up the OS, Damage Boost and Speed Boost power-ups, and play Juggernaut in a Team Slayer match. >:)

It looks like the player is COMPLETELY invincible for a few seconds after calling in OS. I don’t like that at all. The player should be tougher but not invulnerable. OS is more badass than Juggernaut seemingly.

Oh, and baiting will be a tactic used no matter what the drop is. Try dropping a sniper rifle. Every wannabe marksman on the map will be rushing right into your waiting arms for it in like 2 seconds.

That’s what I noticed with the OS, but however, I never liked the OS in any Halo game since I’ve always considered it a cheap way to live. Even though I don’t like the OS, I still play it. Anyway, it seems to be in Infinity Slayer instead of the Regular one. This kind of style is going to take a lot of work to balance.
