I just realized what a Yoink means...

Like the etymology of the medal. When you Yoink someone, you are screwing them out of an Assassination . So, literally -Yoinking!- them out of a worthy feat and medal. Awesome!

inb4 troll, yes I know I’m slow on that one, but I’ve only been on the forums recently. Anyone else? If I’ve enlighten at least one gamer, I’ve succeeded.

Yeah, like when the language filter yoinks my -Yoinking!- words out of my sentences and switches them with a -Yoink- yoink!

Yeah, it’s -Oink!-.

Or like adding ellipses after every topic/subject title. I hate -Yoinks!- who -Yoinking!- do that just to get more people to join in on their topic

Whatever do you…

Mean?

2010-2015 the mystery of the yoink

I don’t Yoink people at all in h5, it pisses me off. But in Reach, when it was fresh…

I was definitely…

A -Yoinking!- yoink troll

Yoink comes from when you snatch something away from someone, like someone’s about to eat a delicious pizza and you take it away from them and say “Yoink!” It’s an onomatopoeia of the sound effect from old cartoons that did the same thing.

Ah yes! I thought it had other context. So its the other way around – yoink in the censorship aspect is derived from the fact that you are -Yoinking!- someone out of a medal.

Bungie used Blam, it would make sense for 343i to adopt a new word relevant to the canon

I still see the occasional blam! Not sure of which word exactly generates that filter choice.

I’ve been playing Halo for a very long time and never knew what that meant. Yeah i’m slow and I know it. Thanks for filling me in.

Actually, Bungie used the “yoink” medal in Reach

Yes, that’s when it was first introduced. I was referring to Bungie using the term -Blam!- as a censorship term.

You can’t -Yoinking!- swear here

It was also the medal in Reach for stopping a team mates assasination. Saving an ally was a showstopper.

TheLeigonnaire…that’s the whole point of this thread. Yoink, in the censor ship term of the word, is derived from Yoink, the medal, because when you yoink someone you are screwing them out of an assassination, or in more colorful terms, you are -Yoinking!- them out of an Assassination medal.
