I just realized something, on the topic of remixes

Halo 3 - Released in September
Halo 3’s first DLC - Released in December (roughly 3 months after Halo 3)
Look at Halo 3. Halo 3 waited three months before it got it’s first DLC; the Heroic Map Pack, which featured 3 new maps.
Halo 5 - Released in November
Halo 5 - Brand New Maps - Rumoured in February, or soon (roughly 3 months after Halo 5)
Now look at Halo 5. So far, all we’ve gotten is remixes. Singular maps each update, and they’re remixes. But notice that we’re now 3 months past the release of Halo 5, and 343 is promising that brand new, non-remix maps are coming soon. Notice that after 3 months, we’re about to receive our first brand new maps.

TL;DR

  • We have been waiting for new Halo 5 maps for the EXACT SAME length of time we were waiting for new Halo 3 maps. - We technically got an EXTRA map-pack if you add up all the new remix maps into one.

Take this into account the next time you decide to complain about remix maps.

The remix maps are shown on the DLC poster every time they are announced, to me this suggests that they are proper DLC and not just here to hold us over for decent original dev maps.

I like the remix maps but when they don’t play as well as the original you have to wonder what the benefits are for the actual player base.

With Halo 4 we got the crimson map pack 1 month after release which contained 3 original dev maps, but I do get what your trying to say.

They are still of course DLC, anything you download is a DLC. But that doesn’t mean it counts as an official map-pack.

I doubt any of Halo 5s DLC would ever be counted as part of a Map pack

An equivalent to a map-pack at least. The new release schedule is obviously different in some ways, but it doesn’t change the fact that Halo 3 didn’t get any new maps about as long as Halo 5 hasn’t gotten any new maps.

Nobody played on the Halo 4 new maps though. I paid for those, rarely ever used them,

Same issue I have had since Reach.

It does leave us with a choice in the end though. Do we want decent maps that we pay for that we cant play or mediocre maps that we can play for free.

One thing that I think that needs to be pointed out is that half of the games original maps are remixes, so they obviously had to cut corners in development somewhere.

I’d rather get free maps that I can play on rather than pay for and not play them like h4. Don’t necessarily care for quality maps as a map is a map to me. H4 divided the player base because of paid dlc. If even just one guy didn’t have dlc, then you were not going to play whatever the dlc map is. They even had dlc map playlist and it wasn’t very populated compared to the original playlists.

It it may leave us with s choice but I think one of those choices is much more supportive than the other and makes more sense. I’d take lackluster maps that I can play on over superior quality maps that I’ll very rarely play on unless I’m in customs or forge.

As did I, but there were other circumstances that compounded that problem in H4, such as the maps being designed for several different team sizes, ( which made it difficult to implement a DLC based standard playlist ) and the whole 14 day trial period, where they mistakenly gave away the CMP, and then took away the right to use it.

Even on thier release days those map packs were Ghost Towns, I liked them but some were so, so like Harvest
