Around these forums I hear “We need to keep the classic Halo”. I’ll tell you what, I just played some online a few minutes ago, and no we don’t. Halo 2 (apparently your God) was a good game for it’s time and was fun to play. But it’s time to move on. I’m sorry but it’s the truth. For you die hard Halo 2 fans out there, remember Halo2sucks.com? Remember how those people never gave the game a chance and how much they missed out? That’s what your doing to Halo 4, so stop whining or you’re gonna miss out on a lot.
Halo 2 is still good, it has better weapons and vehicles than the modern ones and better maps, if the update didn’t stop halo 2 on the xbox being online, I would probably still be playing it.

There’s something called Halo 2 PC. All you would need is a wired xbox controller to play it with a controller.

I just played it online on the xbox? The update hasn’t stopped a thing.

Likewise. <3
I still sometimes H2V but there’s normally only a few servers online, all with horrible ping.
Oorah OP!!

Yeah if you’re playing Xlink and Xbox Connect. Which Xlink and XBC =/= Xbox live. If you considering playing on Mexican connections with 3-7 people max BR/Snipes on Lockout all day to be the same experience as playing Halo 2 on Xbox Live you must not be thinking too hard. The main fun you get out of that is realizing how good the aiming mechanics and BR was in Halo 2 with no(or minimal) aim acceleration and shots that actually land even in laggy games. Halo 2 had the smoothest online play up until Reach and Halo 2 still had better aiming functionality and maps.

So you found the magic game or two that wasn’t hosted on a Mexican connection and wasn’t BR/Snipes on Lockout or CTF on Coagulation with more than 7 people? Tell me about your experience. I’m really intrigued to think that their is more to XBC or Xlink. The only point I’m trying to get across is that it isn’t the same thing at all. Comparing playing Halo 2 Vista, XBC or Xlink to Halo 2 on XBL is like the difference between driving in 1st gear to driving in 5th gear. It’s a whole different ball game and should never even be compared.

I see where your coming from. Halo 2 is my favorite halo of them all. The best campaign if you ask me. Ill look at halo 4 as halo 4. Halo 2 multiplayer was awesome, halo 3’s was phenomenal as well, but halo 4 will play like halo 4.
For me, Halo 3 was the revolutionary one. It has the best campaign, multiplayer, forge and custom games. Just the ultimate replay value all packed onto the one disc. I always preferred Halo 3 over any of the other Halo’s, I just can’t stand it when people say it is bad.

Not bad at all. Halo 3 took everything halo 2 was and then took it to the next level.
Let them miss out, it will teach them a lesson perhaps.
I consider Halo CE (original, not rerelease) to be the best Halo game of them all. I miss Plasma stuns… I miss balanced vehicles and guns (EVERY WEAPON was useful, you could favor any kind of gun and get some kills. Same with vehicles!). I miss the epic campaign where I blew 300 hours of my life in cooperative to explore and tinker around. To get vehicles to places they shouldn’t be… To find all the weapon caches… To tackle the game on every difficulty with whatever limitations I wanted. Halo CE was a game you could EXPLORE.
The rest since then? Yeah, not so much, or at all. The stories since Halo 1 have been rather contrived or convoluted. Including ignoring the first game AT ALL. We went from “They believe Halo is a weapon and said that whomever controls it controls the galaxy” to… “They believe Halo will activate ‘The Great Journey’ and isn’t a weapon at all” in the span of a single game. Just by ignoring a MAJOR PLOT POINT of the original.
How could they believe it was a weapon in one game and then in the next half dozen go, “derpy derp, we dunno what this does! Only the Prophet of Truth has any kind of clue, and even he’s deluded about it!”.
Now… None of that is to say other games were terrible… It’s just they weren’t GREAT. They were good. Nothing more. Halo 2 being the worst among them. The sheer amount of cheating and glitching in the multiplayer aspect of the game made me quit playing it. Remember superbounces? Remember BXR? Remember Quad-shotting? Remember sword-cancelling? Remember butterflying? Yeah. Most broken Multiplayer experience I’ve ever played. Remember host shotgun? Remember lag-switching? Remember dummying? Remember “standby”? I do. We’re not even going to go into the incredibly lackluster and boring campaign either. “Once and done”. Especially with the cheating AI on Legendary.
There’s a reason I was never above a 25 in Halo 2’s ranking system while I hit 42 in Halo 3.
OH MY GOD. THANK YOU.
I really pray to god we don’t have a Halo4sucks.com. Theres a lot of people on these forums that I truly believe would start that up. Blind hate and ignorance leads to the worst things.
REDACTED
Map-wise, Halo 2 was indeed the best. However, conceptually, CE had the better multiplayer since it had a decent map line-up, a balanced weapon sandbox, and a good skill gap on all weapons. It only lacked matchmaking.
> better vehicles than the modern ones
Yep. Better traction, more safer to pilot, you weren’t at an immediate disadvantage if you were boarded, Banshees were supported in campaign unlike the H3 Banshee, the Wraith didn’t seem fat and could get some good speed and squeeze through narrow spaces.
Plus, the Spectre is just so fun to drive.
> better weapons than the modern ones
Disagree. The only useful ones were the plasma pistol’s overcharged shot, energy sword, fuel rod gun, beam rifle, rocket launcher, carbine, and BR. A.k.a utility weapons, power weapons.
I didn’t enjoy using the other weapons. They’re underpowered or unappealing. The shotgun’s range, the plasma rifle, needler, and pistol having to be dual wielded, the slow plasma pistol bolts and their dull green color, the sentinel beam doesn’t feel very powerful like the H3 sentinel beam.
They won’t miss out on anything the people raging will still buy halo 4, they just aren’t happy about the direction they are taking the multiplayer in and are voicing their opinions. Which won’t do anything to change the new direction of the game but they can say I told you so if it sucks. Halo 2 was the best imo and it will more than likely be better than halo 4 but that doesn’t mean 4 will suck, reach was better than the other non-halo fps.
People hate halo Reach and I dont think anyone made a
And im sure Halo 4 will be better then Vanilla Reach was…
