I just played on Riptide, here are my thoughts

Wow all I can say is 343 really shined on this map. I just played my first match on Riptide where I went 15 kills 9 assist 13 deaths. The map is gorgeous and we’ll built and it’s like the way the map is built, it encourages team work at all time. Surprisingly the map has a lot of room and I love the hill that has the sand on it it brings more dynamic to the map. This map is one of my favorites already and j recorded some sweet highlights check them out

I have yet to play an actual match on it… Just custom games. Here’s my take… It’s not really a “new map”… It’s just “Fathom”… Yet instead of being underwater, the base floated to the surface.

It looks soooo good.

That’s good to hear, I haven’t been able to play the new update yet so I’m trying to see what it’s like.

It plays nothing like Fathom though. Tree House and middle tunnel are really the only similar aspects. The routes are different, the engagement spots are different, totally different look. It may be a remix but it by no means plays like Fathom.

Eden/Empire really gave remixes a bad name.

Needs more H2 BR.

Other than that it definitely passes the initial honeymoon test. It doesn’t make me want to turn my xbox off every time I comes up like overgrowth so we’re making progress.

I’m jealous. 20 + matches and it hasn’t come up for me once

No. One H2 BR is awesome. Initial sprint and engagements to it are great. Plus it respawns fairly quickly so by the end of the match you have probably gotten your hands on one at least once.

Yeah, same here. Annoying.

Why not just replace the other rifles with H2 BRs? It’s not like it’s a power weapon.

Haha. Well that’s the main thing huh. 343i definitely have some talented guys at their studio they just cop a lot of flack.

I’ve complained about remix maps before, but this was actually good

The layout is pretty different. There’s more to it than just “float[ing] to the surface”

A beautiful layout, and much different than other maps. Sure, there are some similarities to Fathom, but never once did I feel like I was playing Fathom.

I’m a good player and have struggled on this map early on, but I can tell this is a wonderful map that encourages teamwork and communication. It also seems pretty well balanced.

I actually see this map as a “new” map more than a remix. The layout is significantly changed, weapon spawns are different, there is no “base”. The only thing I see as significantly similar to Fathom would be the art design but the map is suppose to be part of the same sunken complex so that makes sense for their similarities.

I played it twice on FFA. I am interested to play as a team. There are like a millions ways to come up behind people in some areas and it was a little tricky to play FFA not knowing the map yet.

Hate to be that guy, but I have to ask, would you have posted this if you had lost?

I like it as well. But it seems kinda top heavy, as in who ever hold the blue side can destroy the other team. Though this may be because the map is new and people don’t know how to break the set up. At least that’s what I have found after playing it 3 or 4 times.

Yeah it’s better than Overgrowth… Although that’s not hard. Lol

Every map in Halo 5 is top heavy. If you’re on the bottom you’re dead.
