WTF, i never thought i’d see the day that someone is actually rewarded for camping.
Camping is literally the only -Yoink- move that carries over to to every game.
I don’t really understand why an achievement was made for campers…ok, wait i understand. It was made so we the players can know if someone camps. That is the only reason i think something like this would be made. Haven’t found anyone who loves camping. I don’t even think i have heard of anyone bragging about camping in years.
There is an exception to camping which is sniping. A sniper being all snug if their kill spot is what they are supposed to be doing. But THIS, is a whole new story.
Before we know it there might even be an achievement for killing yourself with a scattergun.
I haven’t checked the achievements for this DLC, so right now I’m pleading to myself that through some miraculous coincidence that you’re actually wrong about this, and just trying to give me a heart attack…
Jokes aside, I gotta agree with the OP on this one.

No joke. It is called Pitchen’ a Tent for a whopping 40 G’s, and if that isn’t enough here is the despcription:
“In matchmaking, effectively camp one location without dying for a full 60 seconds.”
There have already been threads on how to properly accomplish this!! Mainly because when said player “effectively camps” they don’t get the achievement. Which is a great irony in my opinion.
I have chosen to do nothing but laugh about this. I mean…really…I believe someone over at 343 must really have a sense of humor. The camo glitch and now this! One of the main matchmaking gurus over there has a youtube video basically chastising a camper, and calling for all players to try and put a stop to it! Now this was before he was hired by 343, but that is beside the point.
I just don’t get it. I really don’t get it. All I will do is my very best to NOT achieve this achievement. I don’t think it will be difficult. I have never been very good at staying in one place for very long, especially if it requires AFK.
> 343 be trolling. More perks, achievements for camping, Legendary Slayer gets merged instead of improving it.
I don’t understand what they’re thinking when they did this, then again I never really understood most of their decisions. There seems to be no logical thinking going on over there from what we see.
What I find really interesting is there has not been more outrage at this, but only…“oh how can I get this cause it’s glitched?”. After all the complaints about camping, there is more concern with getting this rather than why this is an achievement in the first place.

Most people that are vocal against the changes made in Halo 4 complained about it and offered metric crap-tons of criticism for several months. It’s been 9 months and nothing has really happened, so naturally most of those people have left, leaving the Waypoint community with mostly people that don’t understand why the changes are bad or people that can deal with them because they think the good from them outweighs the bad.
There’s not many of the people you’re looking for left, I hate to say it but it looks like it gets worse as time goes by.
I don’t like this achievement. 40 gamer points for doing absolutely nothing. Maybe this is 343i’s way of telling those complainers that camping is allowed.
Actually, it’s an achievement for AFKing; you see, I order to get it, you have to sit ABSOLUTELY STILL for 60 seconds. It doesn’t even work, I’ve tried it several times in the DLC playlist, haven’t moved an inch, and the achievement doesn’t pop.
You know last I checked, “camping” was the practice of staying in one location (like at the top of a gravity lift; remember Sword Base) for the purpose of getting easy kills. Not standing still and doing nothing; that’s called “idling”.
Pitchin’ A Tent has got to be the worst achievement ever conceived.
It’s just one of 343’s jokes, they aren’t trying to actively promote camping. Hence the humorous title of the achievement “Pitching a tent” that pokes fun at the use of the word “Camping” to describe someone who stays in one spot for a prolonged amount of time.
This isn’t a public crucifixion of Halo as many of you are making out.

It worked for me and several others. Me, I went into a btb game on Ragnarok, killed one guy, and stood in the base for 60 seconds. It took several games and tries, mind you. For a while I thought it was bugged too, but it’s not. You DO have to be AFK (AFC), which I agree is stupid. Stupid achievement.
> There is much less camping in halo 4 than previous halos. Its quite fast and agressive where camping is easily punished.
LOL WHAT?
I’ve never seen this type of camping in a Halo game, ever. Shotty/Sword camping maybe, but that was rare because those weapons were on certain maps and pickups. Now camping runs rampant, probably worse than Reach.
I’m an extremely aggressive player but I constantly have to stop because of that horrible Boltshot charge sound or some blue dots popping up every match. There’s MORE camper tools in H4 than any Halo. How is camping easily punished when a camo guy can get 2-3 leading shots WITHOUT descope? Also how can a game that gives players the weapons/abilities to hide be more aggressive than a game that made you FIND & FIGHT for those same weapons/abilites. Also Camo in H2&3 was primarily used to rush power weapons or opponents.
I still play H3 almost daily and I’m telling you there is very little if any camping. You are exaggerating shotty/sword camping in past Halos to defend Halo 4.
