I just need to vent.

> How pathetic is your life that you get so intensely worked up about what you think a game should be?

It’s pathetic to the point where I have to balance a part-time job and full-time schooling, what precious little time I get spare I’ve had to invest in ONE game as I don’t have the hours to be good at many, and it pains me to see my investment of time get pissed away by poor developers, look at the absolutely meager numbers online in the playlist. This franchise took a hit with reach, but is RUINED with 4. I hoped, I prayed it’d improve, I thought for the first few days that ‘everyone was on campaign’, then afterwards I just assumed people ‘couldn’t afford the game’. Nope. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I actually WISH I’d have bought Call of Duty instead, at least none of my friends have moaned about that game.

The worst part about it is 343 have profited from the naivety of many like me, who were hoping the Halo franchise could actually be restored to it’s former glory like in the days of 2 and 3 - the overall sales figures weren’t that bad when it was first released. Now however, should there be a ‘halo 5’, I will not be buying it.

I’m currently an SR58, I have no ok games, just fantastically good games and wall-punchingly awful games which I blame entirely on ‘trueskill’. Skill is how good you are relative to other players, so if I’m better than the average player, surely by matching everyone up at random I would be rewarded for being good by coming out with an above average score? Nope. If you’re ‘above average’ you get punished by being matched with other ‘above average’ players - WHICH MAKES EVERYONE IN THE GAME -Yoinking!- AVERAGE.

I came home from work at 10pm hoping to chill with some Dominion, nope, bugs followed me there too. Every capture I’m frozen in place rendered useless for a good 5 seconds, coincidentally, it only takes 5 seconds for someone to pick you off with a DMR. Also with resupplies every 40-odd seconds, the strong team just get presents of rocket launchers and sniper rifles which make making a comeback nigh on impossible.

Oh, so maybe I’ll go play a little BTB, have a little fun to take my mind off of things? Nope. Trueskill is knocking at the door and she wants my kill-death ratio. Seeing as I’m already angry at this point from other Yoink! bugs, my judgement is a little poor, but through my optimism I see something, what did I see? MY CLAN TAG HAS BEEN RESET TO A256, WITH NO VALID REASON WHY?!

This was the tipping point, a perfect example of Yoink! game design in many small areas amounting to one monumental -Yoink!–up.

Halo CE was the first game I ever bought. This game is an absolute tragedy. I’ve tried to be the fanboy believe me, I can’t take dev Yoink! anymore, and I’m returning to CoD, where at least the devs don’t try to polish the Yoink! they sell.

Yea you’re right about the small amount of players and also how the franchise took a hit with Reach. The fileshare search doesnt work and also why the hell is fileshare locked during lobby? The invisible soft kill barriers also irk me. The thing that killed it for me was this custoziable class stuff and ordanance. I miss having static gun locations on maps and normal starting kits. Whats with people talking about these glitches though I dont think I’ve experienced any yet.

> The worst part about it is 343 have profited from the naivety of many like me, who were hoping the Halo franchise could actually be restored to it’s former glory like in the days of 2 and 3

Yup.

I didn’t get the game because I made educated opinions based off the content that 343 had shown us, but the jokers kept using the “be patient” and “you can’t judge until it’s out” arguments. Now the multiplayer population is low and people are now saying “wait for the patch” and “wait for the map packs” and “wait for the holidays.”

I have no regrets after seeing the community’s reaction to the game. It feels great to finally break free from the allure of flashy, yet substanceless products.

  1. Your life isn’t pathetic by any stretch of the imagination. And it is responsible and good that you place education and work above gaming.

  2. You have the right to be disappointed and frustrated when something you loved and associated with a very specific style of play takes what you consider to be a totally different turn and becomes unenjoyable for you. Don’t get spun by people.

  3. Some of us here are capable of disagreeing with you in courteous and respectful fashions (I love the game, but understand and accept your frustration.) Ignore those who aren’t, if you can.

Reach was the blow, and this is the nail on the coffin. A million real gamers left out in the cold, in total shock of this awful game. Halo has been inherited by the casual and pseudo-gamers.

Though I disagree and am happy with the game, your post was constructive and you don’t sound idiotic. Thanks.

Oh Good God. “Real Gamers?” Please tell me I didn’t just read that. I don’t care if you don’t like the game, but don’t insult people who do.

Yes, please don’t bring the “real gamers” argument into this otherwise more constructive than usual topic.

I’m 31, have been gaming since 1984, and am what most would term a hardcore gamer (just not a competitive one… there is a difference,) and I love the game. But I also understand why many do not, including the competitive community.

We’re all “real gamers.” We just have differing tastes and standards.

Quality post Vamp.

The worst part is, if Halo was taken over by yet another team for Halo 5, I would undoubtedly pre-order the game, there will always be some hope left in the franchise for me.

I actually wouldn’t mind an entirely new game coming along right about now to storm the multiplayer market, preferably the first in it’s series. The problem is nobody has the cash to throw around on a gamble when it comes to buying new games.

I have no idea but it’s terrible.

Last time i checked this is waypoint. Not facebook. Waypoint is for construcitve feedback and polite discussions. If you want to whine because someone upset you please do it else where.

I’m quite happy that you disagree with me, I know that I get bothered more than most by trivial things, but that doesn’t necessarily make them straight up acceptable flaws.

I did enjoy this game very much for the first 2 weeks, it’s just now that I believe it’s ‘levelled out’ a little, the novelty has worn off and I’m beginning to see the game for what it really is.

It actually takes a lot for a game to have me raging on their forums believe me.

On Halo 4, when the going is good, the going is good. But when the going is bad you’d better find some pillows or something soft to punch.

  • Where did you check this?
  • We are actually having a very reasoned discussion, the issues of general frustration need to be raised.

There is no better place to share my views on Halo 4 than with the community, mainly because people don’t hold back and they will share what they genuinely think.

Ordanance makes some game types unplayable, such as Dominion as I’ve mentioned above. The winning team gets rewarded by these drops and if the dude receiving them has the extra ammo perk/ability on then you’re not getting near that base for a good half of the game, rockets are damn near un-evade-able.

Im sorry, is the argument that trueskill matches you with people of your own skill rather than matching you with kids who ususally play pokemon?
thats disgraceful, what were 343 thinking.

and its not a bug in dominion, it happens to everyone, leaves you vulnerable for a second so the defending team can have a shot at defending the base, or would you like to cap the base while firing rockets at some poor liitle post-pokemon halo rookies?

> Im sorry, is the argument that trueskill matches you with people of your own skill rather than matching you with kids who ususally play pokemon?

Absolutely that is my argument. What’s the point in having skill when you’re never going to play against people worse than you? I could run around with my head up my -Yoink- all game, then be matched with other who run around with their heads up their -Yoinks!-, and I would get the same experience as I do when it’s 1am and I’m sat sweating it out surrounded by empty energy drink cans.

I consider myself an above-average player, and while you can argue whether or not that is the case, I deserve to play everyone, the ridiculously good and the ridiculously bad. Random matchmaking helps everyone, if I know I’m better than most, why shouldn’t my K/D reflect that? It won’t, because I get matched with people of the same skill, leaving it teetering around 1.

Also that freezing is purposeful? Wasn’t I vulnerable during the whole time I was capturing the base anyway? Next. Joke.

I did just check your stats and I hate to say it but youre more towards average than above average, not trying to be a -Yoink-, jut telling it how it is, so if youre mad that other people of your “skill level” are running over you , maybe ranting about the game is not the solution, maybe trying to get better would be a more viable option

Idk what you are talking about, the games got alot of stupid problems but nothing overly game breaking, especially what you are describing.

Also, if you are good you shouldn’t be matched w/ lesser ppl - this was one of the few but most infuriating issues I had w/ Reach.

I agree we need static, or at least more predictable spawns return (the most random i want is Rocket’s being replaced by Fuel Rod or Incinerator).

Maybe you are right about Ordinance but thus far I haven’t seen too much bad caused by it.

> I did just check your stats and I hate to say it but youre more towards average than above average, not trying to be a -Yoink!-, jut telling it how it is, so if youre mad that other people of your “skill level” are running over you , maybe ranting about the game is not the solution, maybe trying to get better would be a more viable option

I honestly gave up on my stats a while back, if I decide that I want to have a good game and concentrate, I can have some amazing games, but my stats don’t take into account for all the times where I just want to -Yoink- around. I also play this game a lot after I’ve been drinking, but I don’t come to the forums when I get messed around those times because it’s obvious why.

Also ‘get better’, really? I’ll do just that, what an epiphany I’ve just had, I never thought of just getting better.

I’m raising problems with this game that affect everyone (read: bugs, glitches, flaws) and you’re dismissing it by calling me bad, a very typical move amongst butthurt fanboys.
