I just *love* this new system...

Seriously, 343i has outdone themselves with this new drop-in/drop/out system…

NOT!

This is arguably the most irritating addition to a franchise that has ever been my displeasure to witness. Not only does it make joining new games almost impossible, when it sticks you into a game in which your team is losing, that loss will be recorded into your stats… I’m honestly surprised I haven’t gotten the banhammer due to leaving so many one sided games of Big Team or SWAT. I know I’m not the only one either. I say keep the old system and ditch the new one, 343i. Does anyone else agree?

I agree that joining games, which are clearly impossible to win is very frustrating. However, when join in progress works correctly, and it does pretty often for me; it is a really good feature. Hopefully they create a patch to prevent people from joining games were there is already a clear winner.

One can only hope, Raikugen. It’s really starting to aggravate me to the point of just forging my time away and avoiding Matchmaking altogether.

custom games are broken so yeah, its like 343 gave us the fastest car in the world but made it so the car could only do 30 miles an hour thats how I see forge and CGs.

On that, I agree. I miss the FULLY customizable Custom Games that were fun (assassins not being one of them). 343i seemed to have slipped from this aspect and focused heavily on their Matchmaking which greatly disappointed me. The lack of a good “Blank Canvas Forge Map” also made it hard to like the Forge lobby.

> I joined a game of CTF yesterday - started 4-0 down with the enemy in possession of the flag.

I was put in a game in the same situation, but the team I joined pulled back. I’ve experienced these types of situations in Call of Duty, Battlefield and now Halo. Being the underdog and coming back is a great feeling.

> Joined a game of CTF yesterday - started 4-0 down with the enemy in possession of the flag. Played various others, which started a player down who wasn’t replaced throughout the whole game. Won a game of Dominion in about 40 seconds because the game decided it would be great to start a 6 on 1.

lol oh shut up. I care about it and i enjoy it… The multiplayer quality is fine. Your just a sore loser… I am glad its in… You want to know why? So when i am down two or 1 player people can join so its not a long boring game and a waste of time.

Were I so lucky… I haven’t won but at least 15% of the games I’ve joined in late. I’ve won some games, yeah. However, I’ve lost a lot more and have left even more than that…

EDIT: As for Intense Pickel, there is no need for the name calling. If you didn’t agree, you shouldn’t have posted insults. Read and move on.

Join in progress is important for people leaving games, which is FAR too common in previous Halo games, and was beyond frustrating.

If you join late in a match? Well, you’re close to the end and in 1 minute you’ll be set back up with the fresh match you wanted, and with an extra 1000xp because you ‘finished a game’ that was nearly done.

And NO ONE should care about your loses. NO ONE. If anyone brings up your losses? You can directly site that joining games in progress made this statistic moot, and redirect them to a more accurate stat. (kill/death ratio tends to be the go to)

EVERYONE has the same ‘damaging’ effect of the new system, so statistics may seem flawed. BUT, they are EQUALLY flawed for everyone, so it balances out. It’s all relative.

Win/loss doesn’t say a thing about how you are as a player, especially when you take into consideration FFA only awards one winner, while other game types award a 50/50 shot of winning. The scale is stretched due to team based and FFA, you should never be judged or give a flying flute about win/loss. Anyone who does is stupid, so it should never be a concern to you when you lose a game, and it shouldn’t be frustrating for you.

P.S. I’m still mad about Regicide DESTROYING my K/D and win/losses because I was so focused on the challenges. -_-

I wish it had some kind of quality cap. Like you only join matches that have a 50 or less point difference.

Also about that regicide challenge, lmao I won two matches in a row, (I suck at Halo, really, but got lucky by just chasing the king all day and stole the lead at the last kill and won.) everyone except for me quit, I voted on a map, it loads, before I see anything, the match ends and It counted it as a win for me. So I won that challenge for basically 33% off, lol.

I could put an entire list of BS JIP matches already. It’s a pretty annoying system.

Agreed.

Just one of those things unfortunately. Whatever coding Bungie had in place for their matchmaking (which was amazing) wasn’t exclusive to Halo and so, MS didn’t get to grab that too.

Wait for Destiny to release before you see decent matchmaking again.

As much as I do hate it, I do see how it can help at times. Ive randomly have gotten people quit so I would be down 2… bam! 343 gives me two players and we proceed to win the game. It is frustrating don’t get me wrong, but as much as it has bad the good can over weigh it. Also “SR” ranks aren’t even the true ranking system(coming soon) so no need to worry so much…just have fun playing the game.

As Raikugen said.

I don’t think it’s the systems fault OP. Actually i think it’s due to players who are never satisfied with the quality of match they are given, and so they decide to quit, which makes the situation worse for the players who choose to stay in the game, and therefore worse for the player who takes the quitters place.

JIP, is actually a great addition for Halo, but the way they implemented is all wrong, they should have set it up as a safety net, just in case someone absolutely has to leave the match or gets disconnected. They should have added lots of incentive for toughing it out, and staying in a match, even if you want to quit.
