This is about those awfully specific challenges. Not about the battle pass or it’s progression speed. If you’re going for the weekly and can’t avoid the challenges, I’d rather the game tell me to play like 50 matches of Fiesta than get 5 killing sprees cause, I’ll go several games wanting to rip my hair out getting 4 kills and getting spnkr’d from around a corner. Honest to god I don’t care how long I have to play, I just don’t want to feel like I’m consistently wasting my time.
The same goes for modes, weapons, vehicles, etc. I feel like the challenges incentivize playing un-optimally, or even quitting.
Edit: I do think the core gunplay is fun, I’m just a challenge-focused gamer. I tried to grind out commendations in Reach. In Skyrim, I like to collect the shouts and masks, I like completing the Pokedex, etc. It isn’t even really the reward or speed. I just hate a challenge that’s both time sensitive, requires playing the game in a way that just isn’t fun, or relies on RNG. It can be beyond my skill level, but when it’s time sensitive, it really eats at me, as it doesn’t allow me to improve and work at it. (Pokedex is an example of one challenge that can either fun, or brutally frustrating depending on factors like RNG, or making the player do something particularly un-fun. In Skyrim you just have to know where something is, and you can use whatever combat style you use to go get it, or craft it.)
I was excited about a battle pass in Halo but after seeing what 343 are doing with it made menot purchase it. So I play ranked only, don’t care about cosmetics at all and feeling bored already. I was ready to invest around 60 bucks for stuff in this game but now I’m wasting not one penny on it. Pretty sad actually…
I shared that same sentiment all day yesterday. Every time I didn’t get the match I needed for a challenge to win/play a specific match. “What a waste of time” were the first words uttered out of my mouth after every match.
That’s how I thought I felt till I got tired of not seeing any real progress towards being allowed to customize my SPARTAN how I want. I get that some people genuinely DO NOT care at all about customizing your SPARTAN but looking at the default model before and after every game and every time you die gets dull quickly to me.
Same tbh. And I wish the game incentivized playing this way. I just wanna kick back and blast people, no matter the mode, and stumble across some new armor without having to jump through a hoop that isn’t fun to do.
