I don’t know how many people have heard this, but on the level “Cortana” in halo 3, if you linger in the room where you collect cortana there’s a hidden piece of dialogue where she says “chief, get me out of here, I… I don’t want to stay.” When I heard this it really hit me hard, made me think of all the torment she had to go through.
Wow, I’ve never noticed that before.

Then after you get her back she dies almost immediately
