I hope we have to look for skulls in Halo 4.

One thing I really loved about Halo’s 2 and 3 was scouring levels for hours searching for coveted skulls. With the expansive maps and huge levels to explore in Reach, it was a huge disappointment for me when I found out the skulls were preset. I sure hope we have to look for them again in Halo 4. Anyone else?

Looking for skulls was fun. I definitely would like them to return in Halo 4. I would also like much bigger emphasis on campaign exploration. It gives campaign much more replay value. I would go as far as saying that 343i should intentionally leave some glitches to the campaign for the players to explore. Developers may treat them as bad things, but in reality, they add alot to the game for players.

I agree.

Yes!!! Yes!!! Yes!!! I don’t know why they removed them in Halo Reach but i For sure want them back.

I absolutely agree. One of the best things in H2’s campaign is that you can get out of the maps rather easily, especially on Delta Halo. Although I’ve done it a few times already, I still love running around that huge lake with the temple in it. It’s just fun.

And to be honest, I was really disappointed in that matter with Reach’s campaign. In one of the vidocs Bungie said that Reach’s campaign is going to be quite like a sandbox-style game, yet what did we get? A campaign where you’re being railroaded even more than in H3. :-/

Anyway, I’d love if we had to find and unlock skulls like in H3. Having them off the bat in Reach was nice, but finding them is even nicer.

I agree completely.

looking for skulls was fun. and then using them for one hit kills

I hope they have some skulls in Halo: Anniversary.

That’s rather unlikely. For HCEA to accommodate skulls, the game engine would have to be re-written in at least some parts.

However, I do hope that H4 will have skulls you have to find before you can use them, just like in H3. And I also hope that there will be more to search for, such as terminals, hidden weapon caches, secrets (not necessarily easter eggs) and so on. I love exploring!

Maybe the skulls found in campaign would then be unlocked for Firefight? That could make for some dynamic customization. Like at first you’re stuck with the classic firefight but as you play campaign more and unlock secrets you are able to customize it more.

That’s how Reach should have been.

^ Agreed.

The hunt for skulls was fun, but it would be better if the difficulty stays as Normal (like in Halo 3) or goes up to Heroic (realistic level) rather than Legendary.

Skull-hunting was awesome, disappointed that Reach skipped this. Overall, H4 should have this and follow in the spirit of Bungie, in the sense that there are TONS of easter eggs and secrets hidden all over the game. Secrets and such are one of the things that make a Halo game, IMO.

Some players would probably be too lazy to look for them I think. Although for me I really do want to see them back and having to look for them as I really enjoy hunting for them, even though I had to have videos to help me, that’s what it’s all about - playing a level for ages trying to find a skull and move on. Great fun.

But like I said, the lazy players could possibly have an option to just activate them straight away without having to find them. Hopefully they will take us to different places on the campaign as well, the H3 ones although well hidden where pretty much on a straight and boring path. Alternative directions for the campaign would add loads of replay value.

AT least there are data pads, but no achievement for them.

So much truth is contained in this thread. MOAR SKULLS! And maybe even the odd weapon stashed away some place, like the almighty Scarab Gun.

Maybe they should hide a BR… if it’s not going to be in Halo 4… but it should be reeeeeeaaaally hidden hehe. As for skulls to find - yes please. What about some new ones? Or even old Halo 2 ones back? xP

Yes! We definitely need skulls back!

This would force some people who never play the campaign to do so. They would complain, but in reality it would be good for them. People who play the campaign always have a much better and quicker understanding of the all the rest of the game (including multiplayer).
