I hope they bring back this deleted weapon.

One thing that always bothered me was how boring the promethean weapons looked in Halo 4/5, like re-skinned human weapons. They just weren’t advanced and alien looking enough. Apparently there exists a deleted weapon called the “Bishop Beam” from Halo 4.

It looks just like a Forerunner weapon from Halo Legends and I love it.

I really hope 343 goes back to the drawing board with Forerunner tech and give us something as weird as the Needler or Plasma Pistol was back in the day.

Not a bad idea, especially since I also felt the Forerunner weapons felt like reskins. Halo 5 was better at changing them up more, but even then…

OP’s link if you don’t want to copy/paste

I’m onboard with 343 making unique weapons, but this is not it. In this vid you can see that the Bishop Beam is literally just a reskinned Sentinel Beam. I endorse the design but the actual gun itself is pretty unordinary, it’s a Forerunner reskin of a Forerunner weapon (yeah yeah, it’s a “Promethean” reskin, whatever). The design being reused for a more original concept would be a worthy endeavor, but the weapon returning as it was in Halo 4’s development doesn’t sound good.

It never made sense to me that the Prometheans would have human-shaped weapons when they’re built like machines. Imagine if the Sentinels in Halo 2 and 3 dropped their Sentinel Beam upon being destroyed and when you picked it up it had a clear barrel, stock, pistol grip and sights. It would defeat the whole purpose of the weapon as a really fun, alien-but-familiar, unconventional pick-up. But that’s exactly what happens when you pick up Promethean weapons. There’s nothing classically Forerunner about them at all.

I agree, I was referring more to the design than the function, seeing as it’s in a prototype stage and probably just a sentinel beam re-skin.

Especially with weapons like the Scattershot where you literally reload it like a shotgun. Quite a trashy design imo.

The funny thing is that the Scattershot design is more faithful to the traditional Halo shotgun than the actual Halo 4 and 5 shotgun design (IMO).

I think the forerunners themselves took part in active combat so their weapons being viable for two handed beings is pretty plausible. The Prometheans (knights specifically) were made from composed humans. Equipping them with weapons that are already available made sense. Like having a turret and building a plane around it which is what the Americans did with one of their fighter jets. Pretty cool and saved time designing a whole new weapon system

I agree the forerunner weapons in Legends looked good.

Dang and here I thought they looked really alien with all the geometry and floaty bits lol

I agree with you! I’d also love to point out in Halo 5 the lack of Promethean vehicles. We got an aircraft, Phaeton, I’d like to see a Promethean tank or ground vehicle. But I have no idea if Promethean’s will be in Halo Infinite.

They should be, excluding them wouldn’t make much sense; especially since they have been the main enemies of the reclaimer saga, it’s like if Bungie excluded the flood or the covenant from one of their main games.

That’s true. With that being said more Promethean vehicles would be great!

Really cool! I’d like to see this make an appearance in Infinite!

I remember in the library guilty spark would tell chief that his equipment was outdated (paraphrasing).

The promethean weapons so far have just been reskins of the ones we already had. I would love to see them actually be deserving of their rating.

Have weapons that do things we have never seen before. How crazy would it be to have a portal gun? Gravity gun? A weapon that basically acts as the H3 regen as long as you keep it on your teammate? The only weapons in H5’s sandbox that stick out for me personaly are the void’s tear and the Beam Rifle which had the same ability. This is a species that through technology is essentially magic. Their weapons should reflect that.

I actually asked Joseph Staten about that on Twitter. I always thought that someday Master Chief would equip Forerunner armor in order to effectively fight Forerunners/Prometheans. Maybe that would’ve been the direction for Halo 4/5/6 if Bungie had stuck with Halo. Forerunners were always mysterious and overpowered in my mind, so to see Forerunner weapons as human weapon re-skins was very disappointing.
