I’ve been replaying all the campaigns and started concentrating on what I love and what needs to go. After seeing some recent screen shots of Infinite and based off the trailer we saw last Summer, I’ve come to some conclusions:
Design Choices: Sniper looks great, what if it had the green screen again? Rockets look like they’re back. Assault Rifle looks like it’s Reach variant. I’d like the Sniper, DMR, and Shotgun to get that treatment too. - Drop ship movement and destruction: It seemed 343 took a way different approach than Bungie when it came to the movement of dropships. They were on very rigid tracks it seemed and look “staged.” The ships in Halo 3 for example, moved as if they were another enemy on screen. Reacting, Avoiding, Attacking. Along with this is the ability to destroy the drop ships, something I’d like back with more realistic destruction physics. I look back at the opening mission of Halo 4 and destroying the corvette with an artillery missle cause a rigid moving vehicle to break into 3 or 4 pieces and react unrealistically. Seemed very PS2 era. - Glint: I really hope they take out power weapon glint. It sucks being dominated by power weapons but it’s part of the game. - Enemy AI: Let’s bring back the Halo CE and 3 AI. These enemies made me feel like I needed to think about my next moves carefully and it was different every time. Now it’s just a large amount of enemies shooting at once. Bring back “Kill Elite little ones run scared” - Sounds: Bring back English grunts that don’t talk TOO much. Go back to old Jackal voice. And PLEASE stop telling huge complex uninteresting stories through mid combat chatter. Also Chief should go back closer to the Strong and Silent type. Bonus: I hope they bring back Scarabs and the ability to hop on and destroy them again. Would be a cool idea if they had massive Banished variants all slightly different that served as a boss battle in the vein of Shadow of the Colossus and BotW.

Some good points.
But heartily disagree about the power weapon glint. I think Halo 5 got it just right. You have a split second to thrust out of harms way.
The advantage is still squarely with the bearer of the weapon - the good snipers won’t give you the time to react.
Maybe a moot point in Infinite if thrusters have been thrown in the bin.
