I know this is debatable, but honestly most of the gameplay mechanics from Halo 5 actually modernized the gameplay formula. And things like Smart Link and sprint should definitely stay. The old zoom in and out mechanic of Halo 1-4 were mainly outdated and was getting washed out by the competition because nearly every developer who are known for making shooters adopted the ads mechanic. With Halo 5 ADS they did it in very cool way that brought back the old school style ads from the og xbox and ps2 era while blending some guns with the new style. Plus it’s more responsive then the old zoom & out mechanic because clicking the right stick twice doesn’t really guarantee quickness to gain mutlikills from a far distance with a sniper rifle or dmr. Just snapping the left trigger is way quicker and sufficient then the left stick. Going back to the old formula would just make Halo feel outdated and get left behind their competitors. As much I love the original trilogy, Halo needs to evolve because old style Halo is very slow and many Halo veterans who played 5(not the never evolving toxic always stay in the Nostalgia fans) pretty much knows this. Not all the features of 5 needs to make a return, but the 343 did ads and sprint needs to stay to accommodate with the modern shooting fanbase and old school. We need a balance 343, we are in 2020 we need to get with the times gameplay wise.
Another thing if we are going against pc players who mainly play keyboard and mouse they can just point and click on their target heads and obliterate you from miles away like magic. They don’t need to zoom and out to get an instant kill, and when it comes to us console shooters and it’s gonna be hell for us to get them because the joystick is not that accurate and quicker than the keyboard and mouse.
That’s why I hope they will put options into the game like
Cross Plattform enabled = true /false
Only same Input method = true / false
Tbh I would not play against PC players. But I would play with them coop campaign.
There is no way I’d play vs PC players. The KB&M advantage is real and substantial.
While Halo 5’s implementation of ADS was pretty good as far as ADS goes, my problem with ADS is a more fundamental game design centered one: when you zoom in the old fashioned Halo way, you have way more visibility than ADS where the gun takes up the whole screen. I don’t oppose it on the grounds of cAlL oF dUtY bAd, more on the grounds of I’ve never thought it was good for gameplay.

HAHAHA…no.
I didn’t mind the ADS honestly but I’m kinda 50/50 on it and I’m not sure what the happy medium is.
I will say I found it pointless to have ADS on the shotgun, AR, Needler, and weapons like that. So maybe you remove it from those weapons. But I didn’t mind it on like the Fuel Rod, Rockets, and that kinda thing.
I think the grey area for me is the pistol. ADS drastically transformed the magnum from being a sidearm to a primary/utility weapon. It had pretty decent range to the point you could go up against BRs and have a fair chance.
I think the option to zoom all your weapons should definitely stay for good in Halo, either it comes back as classic zoom or Smart-link, although I really like how all weapons have unique looks and animations with the smart-link. It looks so cool the promethean weapons changing form with smart-link actvated.
Now for the placement of the zoom button it depends on your play-style and we still don’t know if there is cross-play.

Sorry but no, and let me explain why: “Modernize” is not equal to be like any other shooter. The best example for this is DooM 2016, it not only does not have sprint or “Smart Link” (they create that name to say “iron sighs”) it also didnt have any reloading animation. Was it bad? No. They take the risk, think out of the box and said “Whats is DooM about?” and then run with that idea even if probably many people (including myself) believe is was a terrible, old and rusty mechanic. But it was awesome.
I think we can confirm it is not in the game after the gameplay and I think we should put this points in the community but be open minded. Personally i dont like the “Open” world idea in Halo, but lets see. I was wrong with DooM 2016.

Ufff… I never knew how much “help” controller users were having in Halo until the PC version of MCC… it is insane the “Help” they have. So dont worry, KB&M users dont want to play with you either. I guess the only real solution is to split the community, if they keep the assist in Infinite they are going to kill the game in PC.
Why is “modernization” of Halo’s formula a good thing? Much like Runescape used to be, its simplicity was a core part of its identity. Not everything needs to be modernized for people with short attention spans.

Halo 5 gameplay mechanics was mostly accepted through out the fanbase is just the toxic never evolving classic -Yoinks!- wants to play the old oudated halo in which honestly I love the original trilogy and I went back to play it for a couple of matches and it feels too damn old to play and even alot of people start backing out of the matches mostly everytime we play big maps. Most people ven argued that they want to see most of the Halo 5 gameplay mechanics added with the mechanics with the classic games like dual wield, weaponry, armor customization, etc.

Citation Needed for every single time you say “mostly accepted” or “most people like,” because I can almost guarantee you have no citation for where those “numbers” are coming from.
You may feel that Halo 3 is “too old to play.” I’ve been playing a lot of Halo 3. Game feels super tight, responsive and a heck of a lot more fun than Halo 5 ever did. You may not like it. But if the majority of the player base likes Classic gameplay, and based on the numbers from this site they do, then we should revert back to that classic style of gameplay. Halo MCC having 22k players on Xbox One whereas Halo 5 only has 11k is seriously damaging to your argument.

I didn’t say I hater the old formula, I just think that it’s very odd to remove a feature like smartlink to accommodate the classic Halo fanbase. The way they did it with Halo 5 with the updates and beta feedback they created a sort of almost perfect form of ads in which even though you still aimed and you get shot you will revert back to hip fire or if you are damage prior to sprinting you can not regenerate your shields. Plus they did announced that pc players will be able to play against console players in which some will think it’s a fun thing, others who played on the console and pc or experience playing a cross multi-player game against pc players already it’s a bad thing especially in a game that doesn’t have ads which controllers/gamepads heavily favors the option to gain an accurate shot. PC players can just point and click on their opponents heads and gain instant kills easily with a dmr and sniper and I experience the Master Chief collection as well the battlefield and cod franchise on pc in it’s a very pain in the -Yoink- for gamepad players to kill them from far distance or medium distance. However there is only a few games in which controller support is play as the main factor or have the biggest advantage, Gears is a perfect example. While snipers in that franchise is mostly accurately using a keyboard and mouse
, pc players have trouble killing gnasher wielding players in which almost the whole player use throughout any match of the game. Plus targeting assist is another factor that helps the console player gets even with the pc players, plus it’s easier to wall bounce on the controller with high sensitivity than on a keyboard and mouse.
I agree, but I think theres a good way they could go about doing this. To suite canon and modern needs I think it should be kind of done like this. I think the scoped weapons should be full screen like the classic BR and anything non-scoped should have the short zoom like the AR in Halo 5 as an example. This will fit both the needs and wants of old and new players to the franchise. I also feel this would make the gameplay so much better. Canon wise this would make a lot of sense as well. I don’t know if any of you have worn a helmet and tried to aim down sights with a gun, but it’s not easy. At least with rifles anyways.
To be completely honest I kind of liked Smart Link.
Not sure why there’s any negativity towards it.
BIG NO
