I hope Halo: Infinite has fun with itself.

(Title sounds negative, but it’s not, I ran out of characters)

I hope Halo: Infinite has fun with itself as much as the early Bungie games. And by that, I mean mainly referencing funny dialogue interactions and Easter eggs. Speaking strictly to Halo 2 and 3, and to a lesser degree Reach and ODST, all these games took their main narrative (mostly) serious when it was at the front, but you could find genuinely interesting references, dialogue (with some help to IWHBYD skull) Easter eggs and sometimes wacky stuff in between.

Halo 4, and maybe Halo 5 (I didn’t play too much of it), has very little in a singular comparison of this stuff.

in Halo 2, you can find a cowardly grunt that doesn’t attack you and insults the brutes, you can encounter an ODST that records a hilarious message for his wife that he’s found somebody else and wants a divorce, and also the dog. You can find a giant soccer ball, and a deadly scare gun.

in Halo 3, grunts will freak out when a CPU controlled Arbiter gets back up after defeat as if he’s a zombie, you can find cavemen in trees, witness two marines argue about the password to a door and flip an Elephant. Grunts will even ask for Sherlock Holme’s hat.

ODST and Reach has these quirks too, but they don’t stick out as much to me. Halo 4 has very little of this, maybe some hidden dialogue occasionally. I’ve heard 5 is similar, but I never completed a play through.

I hope Infinite can have fun with itself. Joke with itself in both the heat of the moment and out of it. I want to hear enemies reference Craig, team mates argue about pop culture references, and so on. It’s really cool to see a game just enjoy being a game sometimes.

Never really cared for some of the corny dialogue in the past games tbh. Yeah grunts are fun to kill I get it but not everything has to be a joke or “kiddy”. Besides CE originally was a darker themed game to begin with so hopefully Infinite can respect that.

“I hope Halo:Infinite has fun with itself”

Risky click of the day.

My boy is playing with fire with that title…I am sure a bunch of people clicked here ready to pounce on you and trash you but then realized you posted something productive instead of trashing the game hahaha. You should work in marketing.

I really hope so too. Some of Halo 2’s best aspects are weirdly enough it’s glitches.

CE wasn’t even a stranger to this sort of humor either, though. It does have arguably less, but between Johnson hugging an Elite, his exaggerated demeanor, the soldiers talking about “stealing kills” and a thirsty grunt at the tail end of the campaign it definitely wasn’t without humor, it just had less of it in comparison.

I don’t think these things are really experienced up front that often either, more so in later games. Johnson’s addictive personality is unavoidable, but a lot of the Easter eggs I’ve referenced are found through some off-the-path methods and IWHBYD skulls activated.

and really cool thing about early Halo, and even Destiny today, is that it knows when to be serious and it puts it upfront, but it’s all here to have fun at the end of the day too and you can notice these things when you approach the game through different means.

No sh*t lol, getting tired with those kind of threads about Infinite. Maybe OP could say “Halo: Infinite has fun by its own” or something.

H5 also has that, you can find some funny conversations on the no-fight missions.
