I hope 343 and Microsoft after seeing the player base halved every month wake the f up

I haven’t played since December. Game still sucks and over priced battle pass. 20$ for purple yup i’m out. It sucks watching your favorite game become so terrible.

Hence why we need to invest in time-travel to go back in time, slap a few dudes and be like
“LOOK! I am from the future. Destiny is good and all, but Activision plowed you over and made the game a bit more mediocre. Meanwhile your greatest creation is sullied over a decade and when the devs learned to actually do it right, they somehow still screwed it up. Oh and ya boy Frank O’Connor? Where is he, he needs a couple more slaps.”

I don’t get why they’re leaving. Even with all the problems it’s the best halo on the market right now.

As much as it sickens me to say this, but as of right now that goes to Halo 5 and Halo MCC.

Halo Infinite is just too buggy and restrictive compared to Halo 5 Gourdians and Halo MCC. Infinite is too starved of content and capabilities compared to those two.

Now excuse me while I go gargle lava to cleanse my mouth of the sin of praising Halo 5 Gourdians.

well I HATE 5 so Infinite is superior by default
lol

Actually, we can roughly estimate how popular Infinite is based on top most played games and the information we’ve been given about Destiny 2’s average player numbers according to Bungie. (Hint: it’s a pretty high number, and if we’re to go by the order dictates top most played, Infinite is rated higher than Destiny 2).

Also, hardly any of my friends play Halo, all of my Halo only friends stopped playing midway through Reach’s lifespan. So it doesn’t surprise me that most of my friends aren’t playing Halo. Some of them picked it up at launch because gamepass, but quickly dropped it because Halo just isn’t their thing.

You do understand that the reason the number was so high for the actual release was because of the tradition of people setting a week in advance to play a game they’ve been waiting for…right? It happens every time a big release drops.

And yes, 50% drop is bad, but we can’t just speak for everyone and say it’s because of issues that have existed for a time. Game is only a few months old, not every issue can be fixed in a week. This isn’t 2007 anymore where the number of popular titles is a small circle of triple A developers. There are lots of options to choose from, we shouldn’t be screaming at a dev company because some of the population that dropped off has decided they have friends and games they want to play with that aren’t about Halo.

Sorry to hear your friends found the straw that broke their backs, while I won’t say that Infinite has been a flawless launch, it’s had quite a rough ride actually. I will say that it’s not as bad as many like to make it seem. If you have problems such as bugs, report them, but tossing figures up and throwing blame isn’t going to fix the leak any faster.

You patch holes faster with patience and the right tools, not blindly smacking it with a hammer.

OP… 343 saw Halo 4’s peak of players go from 400k to 20k and then decided to say “Hey… lets try to make un-Halo again” and then made Halo 5 Gourdians.

Dang i guess the copy and paste from farcry isnt working.

Halo is dropping on Xbox now…

https://www.purexbox.com/news/2022/02/halo-infinite-no-longer-in-xbox-lives-top-five-as-player-numbers-decline

https://www.windowscentral.com/halo-infinites-player-retention-sharply-declining-why

“Contrary to those plummeting Steam numbers — the game has dropped from a concurrent peak of over 260,000 to below 10,000 players at the time of writing”

https://www.trueachievements.com/n48605/halo-xbox-player-count

I still play, but lack of content, especially in ranked, is why I barely play more than once or twice a week and only to play with a friend. I don’t really get on solo to queue for ranked at all anymore. I’m hoping that with the mid season rank reset they plan on doing that they bring in ranked slayer/swat, but that seems unlikely and with my ranked reset I’ll have even less incentive to play.

with all the problems and all the people leaving it’s still #6 on xbox. soooo it’s alive and breathing.

In some ways this game is suffering the same bad start halo 5 did. Lack of playlists is always bad…and I argued all day in the forums about jt…

“Nah that’s gonna split the population bro”

  • Dude…let people play what they want to play…it gives them more variety for whatever mood they’re in, keeps them invested into the game to see their favorite Playlist readily and always available. It helps player retention. The best time for a higher Playlist count is when the games fresh with a higher population…not when it’s too late and you’re splitting hairs on a balding head…

Eventually more stuff came out. Which is awesome…but SO many players never even attempted to come back…they easily would have stayed if things were both fixed and there sooner…

Then in halo 5, it didn’t have a rank reset but instead a rank update. So instead of players starting fresh…we seen players ranked at champion playing at platinum skill level. (Becauae players couldn’t derank and instead their matches would become easier and still gain csr) …signing on and losing every match to fall all the way back to where they’re supposed to be. However, they didn’t stick around for that. Who would want to? They kept their all time high on their profile and just never came back.

You might want to provide the full quote before taking a section of a sentence to fit your narrative.

“ Contrary to those plummeting Steam numbers — the game has dropped from a concurrent peak of over 260,000 to below 10,000 players at the time of writing — our data from the last week actually shows a very slight increase in Halo Infinite’s Xbox player base, with more than 10% of all tracked Xbox accounts having played Infinite in the last seven days.”

Their data has shown that the game has dropped amongst their gamer tag sample size, from a peak of 30% to about 10% of tracked tags, but this is a common phenomenon in all games. However, compared to other games, this is still pulling in better numbers compared to other games…

Keep in mind, this is a 2.5-million sample size of all active tags, and like any sample, there will be fluctuations and why any poll states the margin of error. And when I took statistics in university, the year began with 19xx, so my memory of it is quite low since I haven’t used it in my career.

It is nice that Steam has numbers, but it is not the dominant platform for the game. People have commented that it is 30% of users, but I have never seen anything to support that claim (nor have I looked).

If TA’s data is good for the overall Xbox ecosystem, then it is performing well there and that is the metric MS is interested in (sales, through GP, etc).

Can you imagine how bad this looks? A game so meh they literally can’t give it away for free.

Wasn’t trying to “fit my narrative”, I even posted the link. Just wanted to see what people make of that since they pretty much say their data is 100%. Also along with that, Halo has dropped on Xbox’s most played game list.

I wouldn’t say that. I mean when Halo launched yes, it was above Fornite but Fortnite was right next to it. Now Halo has dropped and it keeps dropping and Fortnite took the spot again and is holding it.

The most probable cause for biases in the data from True Achievements is probably a sampling bias. On the other hand, I have no clue how the sampling procedure is performed and if the procedure used leaves a lot of room for biases.

Despite this, even the data from the sample collected from True Achievements is quite impressive with a minimum of 250,000 active users on a weekly basis.

I played yesterday for the first time since 4 days.

Got into a BTB match pretty fast, that was cool and fun. But somehow I feel the desync issues got worse through all gamemodes.

I tried the training mode to optimize my settings and everything was running smoothly and I had a lot of fun.

Then tried to get a CTF and Oddball match in quickplay for the challenges.

Got 3 Slayer matches and I went back to MCC.
Lag and desync was horrible in all these matches.

I guess it’s back to Halo 5 and the grind for SR152 for me in the next days.

Playing on a regular 2017 xbox one.

Until mid january I got 95% 30ms servers. Now its about 25%. Rest ist 50 and 130ms. Of course the bad actors aka geo filtering users are the problem… not your incompetence which lead to a massive and constant player drop. -.-

If 343 isn’t getting there -Yoink!- together asap, the game is dead in 3 months.

It’s 2.8 on windows.
