I heard that XP farming is against the code...

I heard the XP farming is against Microsoft’s code of conduct. If that was true why are there literally spartan companies called: “We Love Farming” or something like that. Is farming in Halo different than XP farming in general? Because I realize there are lots of things being “farmed”…kills, commendations, etc. But more kills equals more XP so I’m just wondering how that works…

Nothing of the sort is mentioned in the Code of Conduct, provided I didn’t miss anything in there, so people that do that kind of thing aren’t under any kind of threat.

Hmm…ok.

Farming in Halo is essentially unsporting conduct. People are ignoring the proper objective in order to boost/pad their stats. It may not be explicitly stated in the code of conduct anymore, but boosting and unsporting behavior is inappropriate and reportable offense.

Ok that makes sense. But why doesn’t Halo crack down on farming companies?

Because while it may not be how 343i intended people to play, it’s not officially breaking any rules. So any changes they make to decrease farming would have to be global and not targeting specific players.

There is also an element of it being something difficult to track. Without actually watching a game or series of games you can’t necessarily determine a lop-sided match from a farming match. The stats themselves aren’t necessarily telling. It’s not something that can be set into motion like the ban system that can track specific actions and respond.

so even if they wanted to crackdown which we don’t know that they do… it wouldn’t be an easy task.

Hmm ok.
