So, yeah… Thought they’d use the H:CEA engine. Could someone clear this rumour up at all?
CEA’s Engine will be 11 years old when Halo 4 comes out, because it uses CE’s Engine, except for Graphics.
Reach’s Engine, however, is fairly powerful.
H:CEA is using a halo reach engine.
Halo 4 will have a modified version of halo reached engine.
Thats what i have heard.
To clarify: they will almost certainly be using a heavily modified version of Halo: Reach or Halo 3’s engine – most likely the former. This will not, however, limit their ability to change gameplay. After all, Reach is just a modified 3 Engine, and 3 is just a modified 2 Engine, and 2 is just a modified CE Engine.
So that means it looks like H:CEA and play like reach? With armour abilities?
No.
The Engine is what powers the game, records where you are, records your weapons, records everything going on, and powers the game.
It has nothing to do with gameplay.
> So that means it looks like H:CEA and play like reach? With armour abilities?
Engine does not equal Gameplay. At all.
You do know the CEA engine in still the halo CE engine, with minor changes and re textured.
The Halo Reach engine is the same as HaloODST, Halo 3, your “great” Halo 2, and HaloCE/A, all being modified and improved upon over time.
no its using cryengine 3
Halo CEA ran on Saber3D engine while the multiplayer and firefight components ran on the Reach engine. And just because the game is using a modified Reach engine doesn’t mean the game will be anything like Reach. What it will come down to is how talented 343i’s programmers and engineers are at modifying what Bungie created with the Reach engine.

Actually, Halo Anniversary ran on both the original Halo 1 engine as well as the Saber3D engine. The Saber3D engine was used for all of the rendering, and the Halo 1 engine was used for everything else so that the game played and felt exactly like the original.
What’s the problem? All other Halo games did it before.
Well cea is on the ce engine with new graphics and I’m fine with the choice of engine because reach is an updated halo 3 engine and halo 3 is an updated halo 2 engine I think
Halo: CEA = CE Game engine/Saber Graphics engine
Halo 4 = Modified Halo: Reach game engine/Modified Halo: Reach Graphics engine OR 3rd party graphics engine.
I actually didnt like reachs engine i prefered halo 3 lol.
d
Engine=/=Gameplay

Do you even know what a videogame engine is? Cause it sure doesnt sound like it.
