Made a post a while back about how free for all was a mess and needed to have fewer players. To my surprise, 343 was listening to us and reduced the player count from 8 to 6 leading to cleaner gameplay, and fewer times of spawning into fights. I dare say, however, that FFA still needs work. Guys I can’t stress this enough: the motion sensor needs to have more range. It just does I’m sorry if you feel it’s OK, but it is adding random variables to the match. The norm in FFA is a kill for a death. No matter how skilled you are, you are likely to have a 1.0 k/d by the end of the match. You get a kill, then someone comes from behind you and kills you. There is no way to see that coming because of the small motion sensor. There is no one else helping you that can give a call out of an enemy’s location that could potentially save you. It’s just dumb luck whether or not someone will come from the back or the side or you just get sandwiched from multiple directions. You can’t strategize in FFA. It’s move from room to room and hope you don’t get ganged up on. A bigger motion sensor would give you a heightened awareness of the fight, and will decrease simply running into someone by chance. I keep making the same topic for my posts and I’m sorry for that, but it’s my biggest let down for this game. FFA is mostly all that I play, and its becoming harder and harder to appreciate this game for the good things it has because of these few things that are so frustrating to play with.
i disagree, i think the radar should just be removed. Even in past halos this was a problem in FFA, getting kill steals and getting ambushed was a common occurrence. If anything I think the abilities allow for players to escape these situations. I dont know how many times I have gotten a kill, been shot in the back, than boosted and clambered my way behind him for another kill. Learning those clamber routes can give you an edge and some nice sprees
Maps are not even for Free For All. All Arena maps are based on Team, 4V4.

Taking away the radar would only increase the chances of you getting swarmed by multiple players.

thats basically what happens now, only players that are aware of their position and the escape routes of the map as well as the ability combos needed to achieve them succeed. You dont need a radar (basically a cheap way to see players) to do well or counter a player.
ffa need to have 8 players , its boring whit 6 , you have 2 ppl quit most of the time making it a slow and boring fight !
FFA isn’t about about fair and balanced gameplay.
It isn’t about who is the better Halo player.
It’s about who is the most ruthless, cheese abusing, kill stealing drekhead vulture in the match.
And that’s why its my favorite mode after Warzone <3

I absolutely disagree. I have played FFA for years and having a standard 6 people on the map really reduces “gang bangs”. Since FFA is played on a lot of 4 v 4 maps, having 8 people on the map is like having two teams of people, except people will be spawning all over the place depending on where people are on the map. This is really bad because you will sometimes just spawn into a firefight already happening. This already happens sometimes in SWAT (overgrowth in particular) for example except you get insta HS’d. That is already proof that there is something odd going on with the spawns.
You should hardly ever have to spawn into enemy fire. That being said, controlling where the enemy spawn is a thing.
To add to the original topic, radar should not be removed and should be extended 1 metre and maybe 2 metres to accommodate for someone who may be sprinting. It can also save your life when you are in a firefight with someone and another person is coming up from behind, knowing they are there gives you a chance at an outplay.
Radar has been part of FFA since the early days of Halo. I have never seen these people that want to get rid of it until now. FFA is not SWAT or Breakout, or MLG. FFA is like Slayer, the radar will stay.

After playing halo 5, I’m inclined to agree with you. But it needs to change.
all its going to do is give the person crouching in the corner a heads up. i think big radars promote less movement.

This. It’s not a fair/balanced gametype and never will be.
mhhm i dont get your point got last game 25/12, sure you can get game where you want to break the disk, but that was in halo 3 and 4 the same, even with better radar you still lose kills to some cheap side attacks, thats what FFA is about
