i have surround sound - will a dss headset help?

Hey all! I’m thinking about breaking down and dishing out for a decent headset. After doing some research, I have 2 questions:

  1. Would a surround sound headset really improve MY gameplay? I already have a pretty decent surround sound system, so I figure that a stereo headset might be a step backward. Anyone out there had a chance to compare a DSS system to DSS headsets? Is there that much ($100+ much) of a difference?

  2. If it is worth it - I need opinions on the best DSS headsets, FOR THE MONEY! Any headset as expensive as my xbox… yeah no thanks, I’m good.

Yeah my turtle beach X4 broke 6 months after i bought it… It was 200$ at the time my opinion would be forget it they make them too cheap yet very expensive…

Yeah, I’ve heard about them being cheap-looking, and I’ve heard that wireless has buzzing if there is any interference. I think I could tolerate wires if it came with the emersive gameplay proponents rave about, but that’s just it; My surround sound already emerses me more than my wife would prefer.

Anyone have experience comparing a DSS system to the headsets? Anyone?
