I Have Some Questions

Now that backwards compatibility is going to happen and my favorite games can be played on the XB1, I am strongly considering buying an XB1 this fall.

With that in mind, if I buy a XB1 I will probably buy Halo Guardians just for the heck of it. I like some of the things 343 is rolling out, and dislike other things, but I have some questions regarding the game.

Thanks for the feedback b/c it will influence me in whether or not to buy the game.

  1. Is the campaign going to be mission-based or free-roam (like Mass Effect)? Will Master Chief be the only playable character?
  2. Is the multiplayer going to be mostly arena based or more open?
  3. I know custom classes are being removed, but are spartan abilities also being removed?
  4. Will sprint return?
  5. Will ordnance be returning?
  6. Which of the following are making a return: DMR, BR, Light Rifle?
  7. Will firefight or spartan ops be making a return?
  8. Will the rank system be more like Halo 3, Halo Reach, Halo 4, or none?
  9. I haven’t played the Beta. What is your opinion on the game’s flow, kill times, skill needed, etc. compared to previous Halo titles?
  10. Anything else important I haven’t mentioned.

Thanks Again,

NachoMan75

Anybody there lol

FYI - Post bumping is against forum rules. Anyway:

  1. Is the campaign going to be mission-based or free-roam (like Mass Effect)? Will Master Chief be the only playable character? - given that they confirmed months ago tat Locke is playable and in the demo they played as Locke; and confirmed in co-op you can choose which member of the team to play…No
  2. Is the multiplayer going to be mostly arena based or more open? - Both by the looks of things
  3. I know custom classes are being removed, but are spartan abilities also being removed? - Yes, you now have Spartan abilities
  4. Will sprint return? - Yes, see Warzone demo
  5. Will ordnance be returning? - A variant at least, see Warzone Demo
  6. Which of the following are making a return: DMR, BR, Light Rifle? - All of them by the looks of things
  7. Will firefight or spartan ops be making a return? - Unknown
  8. Will the rank system be more like Halo 3, Halo Reach, Halo 4, or none? Possibly, ranking is a cert though
  9. I haven’t played the Beta. What is your opinion on the game’s flow, kill times, skill needed, etc. compared to previous Halo titles? - Can’t say as haven’t played it
  10. Anything else important I haven’t mentioned. - Watch the videos as these will answer most of your questions
  1. Linear. And John and Locke will be the main playable characters, but additional players in co-op will play as the other squad members.

  2. Looking at it without any bias, Halo’s multiplayer will be the hybrid of arena and tactical we have always known it as, but there are quite few twitch elements in it, namely the mobility.

  3. Do you mean armor abilities? Yes they are, they are replaced by thruster pack and ground pound which are universal abilities.

  4. Unfortunately, yes.

  5. Maybe for social/customs, but not for competitive MP.

  6. All three of those

  7. Unsure about firefight, but Bonnie Ross mentioned a co-op campaign. And warzone looks like firefight versus on steroids.

  8. The MP ranks will be like LoL, and the progression system is like Halo 4, probably without the specializations though.

  9. The flow had an illusion of being fast, but was actually quite slow, as many of the matches ended on the timer, much more than previous games.

  10. If you’re sangheili player, then prepare to be neglected for another 3 years.

  11. Don’t bump.

  1. Most likely going to be mission-based like all previous Halos. You will play as Chief with the company of Blue Team as your AI’s, and you’ll also get to play as Locke and Fireteam Osiris as your AI’s.
  2. Probably will be both, there will be a gamemode called Warzone which will be 4x the size of any other Halo map.
  3. In the multiplayer they’re being removed. Unknown about campaign but I highly doubt they would put Sparatn Abilities in there too.
  4. Yes.
  5. Not for multiplayer.
  6. All of those weapons will be making a return to Halo 5: Guardians.
  7. Unconfirmed if Firefight or Spartan Ops will be available.
  8. They said they’re making a “competitive ranking system”.
  9. The beta was pretty decent. The game’s flow was fast and looks fresh. I think there will be more needed skilled involved than compared to Halo 4’s multiplayer.
  10. You should watch the E3 demos and hundreds of Halo 5 MP Beta gameplay on Youtube.

Hey man, welcome (in advance) to the X1 family. If you havent seen the E3 conference, I believe that should be enough to sway you to purchase an X1 soon.

  1. Mission based (but large open mission areas and multiple routes through areas) Chief and Locke will be the only playable characters for single player, 8 different characters fo co-op
  2. There is an Arena style multiplayer experience but there will also be large 12v12vEverything battles and more classic Halo playlists.
  3. So far, no Spartan abilities have been shown, but each spartan has the ability to ground pound, charge, thrust, and sprint.
  4. Sprint is returning
  5. No ordnance, one specific game mode has something called REQs which uses a points system to trade in points for vehicles or weapons
  6. All of those are returning
  7. Unconfirmed at this time but expect at least 1 of those to make a return (my bet is on Spartan Ops)
  8. Ranking system mostly like 3 and Reach combined, where a win is what will help increase rank and your contribution to that win is worth points.
  9. Best flowing Halo game by far, in terms of kill times and skill needed, it depends on how you play and have played Halo. in terms of skill needed id say more than previous games, due to the fact that there is a lot of room for escaping and kiting targets. Kill times vary on the playlist.
  10. To add in to the last question, the most important part of the game, imo, is that is is INCREDIBLY fun, and that the campaign, from what we’ve been shown so far, has incredible scope and ambition. This looks to be the best Halo game made to date.
  • Mission based, with both Chief and Locke playable, as well as Kelly, Fred, Linda, Buck, Vale and Tanaka in Co-Op. - Both. - Spartan Abilities are here to stay. - Sprint is also here to stay. - In one gametype, Warzone, it returns in a different form, with new restrictions that make it fairer. - All of them. - We don’t know. - There is a new Skill rank system with seven divisions, the first five having three tiers and the last two being reserved for the best, with a point rating. There is also a progression rank system beside it. - In the beta, which was subject to change, there was very little aim assist, a decent amount of bullet magnetism, though that has apparently been lowered, meaning gunplay is reasonably skilful. The game is quite a lot faster, with thrusters being capable of executing quick assaults and escapes. To compensate for this, kill times are about 0.1 seconds faster.

Thank you, and everybody, for the honest feedback. The game does sound pretty fun and seems to be somewhat challenging. I will probably pick the game up–it does look great and seems like the community is receiving the game positively.

Edit: PS: Sorry for the bump won’t happen again.
