After spending some time away from the forums and actually playing the game, i realized some key points:
The Boltshot is pretty hard to use. Miss the shot and you might not get another chance. And people are starting to realize to run back or use an AA to counter.
DMR Is OP, but the BR can beat it in certain scenarios and play-styles.
3.Grifball is very fun when JiP does not work and it is 2v2.
Vehicles are deathtraps nowadays, but it is still fun to get a Road Trip and a Splatter Spree with a hog.
If you plug in your mic and say “Use em if ya got em”, you might be able to get people to plug theirs in as well. Communication is how I have brought back JiP games.
Spartan Ops will NEVER be a replacement for Firefight. The whole point of FF was to just kill as many random covies as possible. SpOps is a mini-campaign. I like it, but nothing can replace FireFight.

AC campers are annoying, simply because they don’t push forward and get kills. AC as an AA is really just a bad idea, you can’t have an AA that rewards camping. However giving those players OP DMRs and Boltshots isn’t helping.
The best DMR fix really is to just nerf the RoF so the killtime increases by .2-.25 seconds. As for the Boltshot it should keep it’s current Halo 2 pistol primary mode and have a Halo 3 Mauler (reduced range and slightly less damage) as a secondary. Because you can’t dual wield anymore it would be completely balanced.
I believe in giving a small buff for the CC and BR as well, but that’s for another thread.

I didn’t know playing with a legitimate tactic in the game where I can do just that was cheap and annoying.

Not hard. Even as king in regicide… People can see exactly where I am, yet they can easily be fooled into boltshot trap.

First time that i used a bolt shot, got a triple kill. This was in Oddball. Every so often ill get a double with it, but most of the time, after the first time i use it, they start using Hologram to trick me, or Hardlight shield to save them.
I do admit that it is powerful, but it does have its drawbacks. I would like to see the after-charge animation lengthened a bit, and lower its range.
People who use the boltshot think they’re pro. People who defend the weapon are the ones that depend on it to get a kill. They notice that it takes a spartans shields down from across the map. They understand that it can be a mid ranged support weapon. For example, they know that the boltshot will lower the shields so that a teammate can play a role as a janitor and clean up. But secretly, all they hope for is that “satisfying” one shot kill. At the end of the match, they talk about their K/D as if they are legit.
People just need to face the facts. It’s an overpowered weapon…
No one said the Boltshot isn’t OP people, that’s been agreed on. However, if you miss the shot your doomed. I honestly, can’t work the charge mechanic well so I just never use it. Besides, the magnum is a terrific weapon now and you don’t need to dual wield it for it to be useful.
At this moment… In my slayer stats for melee and boltshot are
115 melee kills
115 boltshot kills
77 times I’ve been killed by melee
31 times I died from boltshot
I don’t know how to interpret this. Melee kills me atleast twice as much as boltshot does yet I get equal kills with either. OP? Yes, but the situation feels entirely avoidable.

so a plasma pistol with no range that doesn’t even emp vehicles?
pshh.

It launches all these little bits of hardlight. If they lower its damage so it is barely enough to break a shield and hurt the body a little great, it should be a one hit kill if it was aimed at the head. So its a charged shot and a headshot. But if your aim is off and you only hit body… No insta kill.

I agree with you on some parts, but 1 and 6. The Boltshot is not hard to use. At all. And I think Spartan Ops is better than Firefight by a long shot. Firefight had no story and was just pointless rounds for Credits. In Spartan Ops, there is a story with well made cutscenes and you can also get a lot of XP from it.

You also have host in that game, which makes the boltshot far more effective.
That video does show the atrociousness of camping and the boltshot, but, while i could be wrong, it seemed like that person was crouching and we all know that crouching makes you invisible on the radar.
