I have never understood this!

Regarding Capture The flag…

I have never understood why there are respawn points are neutral in capture the flag. Even going back to the Bungie days. Do you really want the opposite team spawning inside your base or near you base. I’m sorry I really don’t understand the logic behind this?

At least starting in H3 CTF uses respawn zones to influence the neutral spawn points. That’s why you never side swap in objective modes.

What I end up doing is deleting all the spawns in the map and then deploying my respawns for each team. Then marking spawns for the Attackers teams and the same for the defenders team. I don’t like surprises!. lol I just make sure nobody can spawn near or inside opposite teams base!

What I did for my MLG Reach Maps is have all the respawn points neutral but on one of the maps that support CTF I put respawn zones and I set a game label to them called “CTF” so that they only appear in CTF and not in slayer and this is way easier then having to change the team for each respawn point, although make sure your initial spawns are set to a specific team.

The respawn system is complicated. I barely understand the weighting system myself. Just because there are neutral spawn points in a strange area doesn’t mean that they will be used by both teams in a RvB match. Make sure you’re using a CTF or slayer gametype when you forge so you can focus on the stuff exclusive to those modes. The maps in matchmaking leave a lot to be desired but they usually have the spawns setup in a smart way. (Except for Halo 2 Anniversary which I don’t trust.)

If you are editing in Halo 3, you have to set the spawn points to the teams you want. Attackers are Red, Defenders are Blue.
For Reach, 4, & 2A, there are respawn zones to use. Anti doesn’t allow the other team to spawn there. Respawn Zone lets the team spawn there.

Remember, you can always mess around with them, (if you have a friend, have them help you test the respawning system to ensure it works).

You may think I’m nuts but I have never used spawn zones. I just put my respawn points and mark them for Attackers and or Defenders and they work fine and always have as long as I have at least have main spawn point. Like I said it works for me.
