I love everything they’ve done with the story and all, all the hints towards Halo 5, but there’s something missing that they forgot in Halo 4. Halos. I don’t think Halo 5’s story will revolve around a Halo. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with this, it’s just I miss the old style of the story. Yes, I know there was Gamma Halo in 4, but it felt like 343 realized their game didn’t have any Halos in it, so they just threw one in. I hope Halo 5’s story involves a Halo.
If anything, the story will most likely evolve around the Janus key in my opinion.
There have been a few games without Halos now, and I don’t feel it’s a problem. If they put a Halo ring in every game, it really limits the storytelling abilities of the developers. Considering there is about a half hour of cutscenes and story in a game, they would have to spend a considerable amount of time justifying going to a ring, what gets done there, and how the characters get off the ring. It would just recycle the same story over and over and over…
I vote to leave Halo rings out of my Halo from now on.
im sure at some point they will throw in a ring…it was absent in 4/reach so its overdue… will be neat to see how they tie it into the story!
Games with Halo rings

CE- 2- 3- 4- SSGames without:

ODST- Wars- SA- Reach- Guardians (Orion and Pegasus)
So far we’ve seen an equal amount of Halo rings in the games, we also visit Gamma Halo (03) in Escalation. Alpha (04) in Nightfall, albeit a shard, and a hefty amount of the extended universe. Delta (05) also appears in Broken Circle. So on top of the games, they appear in quite a few books and comics. Really the amount of times we don’t see a Halo ring involved are the stories we need to be seeing

I mostly agree, but I don’t think they should leave them out of Halo “from now on”. Rather, include them in the story if, and only if, they comfortably fit in without having to be forced in. Basically what you said, except I wouldn’t mind seeing another on at some point, as long as it’s relevant.

Halo was the Title of Bungies original games. We are done with halo installations for now, and it wouldn’t be wise for 343i to call halo something else so that they wouldn’t need to put in a ring.
Its not a problem but when you consider that there are still 6 Halos left and only Installation 05 is guarded by humanity, you kind of have to wonder what there purpose will be in the future.
Installation 03 went walkies

It’s a miracle that Lisbon Station was able to find a place that was still intact after the Covenant bombarded it during the Flood’s attempt to take over the ships. I’m sure there’s Covenant ships and research stations orbiting the ring as well. As for Installation 03, I’m sure we’ll see it again soon. If the Ark was able to build Installation 04b within the few months after it’s original had been destroyed, and would’ve been ready to fire a few days after the Battle of Installation 00, then I’m sure there’s a location where a shard can be replaced quickly.
But dude why? The story so far is a awesome band. Under soil and dirt is a perfect album.
