I have a Rail Gun problem..

About a month ago, I found out the Rail Gun is hitscan unlike Halo 4’s. Even after finding out, I have trouble hitting ranged shots that should be kills. In Halo 4, I could lead my shot well and kill from afar with high success.

In Halo 5, simply keeping your enemy within the reticule circle from a distance won’t give me the kill. I either completely miss or pop shields. How can I be missing hitscan shots when there is no travel time? Is the actually size of the shot altered compared to Halo 4? Also, this obviously only applies to the regular Rail, not talking about upgraded ones. Also to be clear, I’m definitely not bad with it, but medium to anything above range gets hairy even when following hitscan’s logic.

Any advice?

If you’re dead on and missing it is likely lag.

Yep… happens sometimes.

Just takes some getting used to, once you get it, overkills all day

Practice in custom games/forge with the Arclight. Since you can hold the charge indefinitely it’ll get you accustomed to the aiming. Other than that, I can’t really say anything besides “put the reticle on your target” and, since you said that’s what you’re doing already, I imagine most of the problem is latency.
