I loved the DMR in Reach. My 2nd favorite gun. But in H4 it is just… ridiculous.
I can’t stand it. I hate getting killed by it. I’ve tried using it and I just can’t stand it. Maybe the reason I loved it in Reach is because of SWAT, I don’t know. I have the same hatred for the BR. But I use it sometimes so I can’t really complain.
I use the AR mostly. AR vs. DMR is almost always a won by the DMR unless the AR user gets a jump on 'em. Its unfair. At least I think it is, anyway.
I love the game, its amazing and in my own opinion 343 greatly improved what Bungie created. However, the horribly OP DMR is the one problem with this game.
I guess on a close range map the AR can be ok for point blank encounters, but most of the maps in Halo 4 are medium to large so using the DMR is much more advantageous on them.
You have a KD of over 2 so your obviously not a terrible player, but you need to learn to use DMR for maps like Complex and Solace. Or just use the perk where you can use the DMR and AR, problem solved!
It’s OP but not for the reasons you said lol. The AR is terrible and always will be. The fact you think it takes more skill is a joke considering you just aim at them once and hold the trigger, hoping they can’t catch up before dying. The precision weapons force you to actually aim with each and every shot so…
My gun of choice is the DMR though becausei it’s just that more usefull in mid-long range maps.
OP, try to use the BR or the LR maybe that’s more to your taste. Or play some Regicide on small maps, you will find that the AR is quite awesome when multiple people are fighting, you can just spray them down!
(Don’t forget to use our magnum to snipe out the people who are fighting eachother, wait for shields to drop and put a bullet in their head for easy 5 points)

I’m sorry, but you must not be very smart to try taking on a DMR outside of the ARs effective range. The AR is a close-medium range weapon and trying to use it outside of that range will not reap great rewards, but will almost rutinely get -Yoink- on by the Carbine, DMR, BR, LR and any other medium-long range weapon.
They have nailed weapon balance better in this game then they have since arguably Halo 1… AR is strong but not like a SAW, the DMR is great at long range and any range if skilled, BR is good at medium/short range and some what long if skilled, Carbine is good if you can aim well. I dont see many negatives to the primaries, all are balanced well.
