For the record, there will be unmarked spoilers here regarding multiple forms of Halo media to present my thoughts.
So anyway, I was finally able to read Halo: Escalation issues 1-13. And I couldnt help but notice that in the arc regarding the Spirit of Fire how it shows the (seemingly) vacant ship is ever so slowly moving towards a unknown planet. But what really got my attention is how the Flood were shown within the last few panels.
Here’s a link to the part in question.
But there’s more to it, a lot more. It feels like everything is leading up to this. To the Flood’s revival as the main antagonist. In the Forerunner trilogy, it was clear the Halos worked, but it’s obvious that certain containment labs (and shield worlds) had living specimen left. It’s certainly not out of the question that another mass outbreak could happen, especially for the ideas that there is preperation for their return. Such as the Flood mode in Spartan Assault. Not to mention that int the forerunner trilogy, they managed to repel the flood from the galaxy for about 10,000 years before they resurged again which led to the halo firing event.
And when the Halo 5 special editiions were announced it mentioned that the outer colonies were under attack and that the UNSC is desperately searching for the Chief. Something tells me the threat to humans is something much greater than the Storm. One could say the weapon designed in the Nightfall series could be a key element, but I’m unsure. That whole series left far more questions than it answered.
I may be missing a few other important details, so I apologize for that, but this is just my two cents.
