I Hate Riptide. So Much

Too many weapons.
Fuel rod (which spawns with too much ammo)
Beam Rifle
Hydra
Plasma Pistol
Halo 2 BR
Normal BR
Storm Rifles
Suppressor

  1. Why both kinds of BR?
  2. The fuel rod still spawns with too much ammo
  3. Plasma pistol means noob combos galore!
There are too many power weapons on this map.

Second issue: No defendable / power positions.
It doesn’t feel like a Halo map.
There needs to be a somewhat defendable position…

Please, change this map…
It’s just awful

I really like this map actually. I hold down Beam Rifle spawn without a problem.

I’ve only played it once, but is was a lot of fun in my opinion. I didn’t even bother with the power weapons. That Halo 2 BR was all I kept going for (It called to me!). Keep the high ground and you’ll be all right, lol!

Everywhere is just too open.
Especially plasma pistol / H2 BR spawns…
The Fuel Rod spawn has 3 ways in.
And beam rifle spawn has 2 ways in…but it’s open too…and one of those ways is from top mid…

There are definitely way too many power weapons. A good team that can lock down the fuel rod spawn while holding onto the hydra and beam rifle can usually dominate the match.

There are lots of places to hold down your position. There also places where it’s unwise to sit in the same spot. It’s diverse. I like it.

Isn’t it a good thing for areas to have three ways in? That way one guy can’t just easily hold the position? I could cite several examples of previous maps having three ways into a given area. Many rooms on Guardian for example have four ways in (granted two of those four entries are usually very risky). Sniper room on Chill Out has three ways in and two ways out. Etc.

Maps with too few entries lead to areas that are far too easy to hold on to, leading to stalemates. Furthermore power weapon spawns should be exposed, so there’s some risk to obtaining them, and so that you can’t just camp their spawn the entire match.

Will agree that the weapon choice is flawed. Fuel Rod is a CQC spam cannon.

I don’t have an issue with the power weapons being in open areas…
It’s just the entire map is open.
Too open.

While I cannot comment on the feel of matches on the map, I can say for speculation’s sake that the BR vs BR is on purpose to collect data.

There is just enough difference between the two that though they both kill in the same time as far as the game is concerned with perfect shooting, it’s: 12 bullets vs 11, more magnetism vs less, less recoil kick vs more, faster drawing speed (ever so) vs default… I haven’t been able to test out the assist sizes, levels and ranges yet but there are slight enough differences to note they could see a change in how the weapon performs.

… And though I’ve seen some evidence to show that the H2BR can use 2 or 3 of its old button combos, the lack of fanfare about it has me totally not knowing.

That doesn’t sound like the map I’ve been practicing running around on. It’s a lot like Chill Out/Damnation in feel the way the rooms and levels mix about (Sadly, no teleporters!)

I think the map looks really nice, I like the astetics of the map. But playability is just ok, I don’t hate it, but I can understand frustration with it.

Yes, being an upscaled Chill Out was pretty much my initial thoughts with the map.

Intriguing. I haven’t heard of this or seen any evidence.

Funny, I see a lot of people complaining about it being too segmented and closed. I don’t really see the problem here. Are you saying you’d rather have a series of hallways than open rooms? Or are you saying that despite what I claimed earlier the various areas are still too hard to hold?
