This week’s Weekly Challenge requires you to beat a Campaign mission on LASO for a measly 15,000cR. I really hate it when we get these.
I prefer those grinding Challenges in Firefight and Multiplayer; like last week’s was finish 200 waves in Firefight matchmaking, and a couple weeks before that, get 500 kills in Multiplayer matchmaking.
Now, they great thing about these challenges is they usually give you 10x what they’re worth; because you not only get the credits for beating the Challenge itself, but all the creds for every matchmade game you play to get there.
Take Firefight for example; completing 200 waves can be done by playing 40 games of 2x Score Attack. Now, considering each game gives you roughly 1,500cR (plus the occasional jackpot of 3,000 cR in the Slot Machine), you’d get not only the 20,000 credits for completing the challenge, but over 60,000 for the 40 games of Score Attack it takes to get there.
LASO, on the other hand… aside from the fact that LASO is often immensely frustrating, it can also be time-consuming, and the amount of credits they offer in reward isn’t anywhere near enough for the amount of time you’d invest in beating a mission on LASO. I could get a whole lot more just playing regular Multiplayer or Firefight for the same amount of time… not only more profitable, but a helluva lot more fun.
Thoughts?
Nightfall can be done in around 4 mins if done right and you avoid being seen by enemies. This challenge is not really a problem.
LASO challenges are never reflective in credits of the time they take to do besides maps like Night fall when compared to MM or FF. Winning with 3 bombs scored in Griball in sudden death provides the best return in credits for time spent in the game. In 13.5 minutes of Grifball i can earn at least 20K in credits if a: we win and b: score our 3 bombs in sudden death. 13.5 minutes in FF will not net you the same in credits but runs a close second.
This weekly challenge is specific to Long Night of Solace.
Personally this is a really good one to have a crack at. There are a couple of techniques you can use. One i call plasma pistol pumping. Rather than fire overcharged PP at the elites rapid fire short bursts at them till there shields pop then 2 DMRs to the head does the trick. This is far more effective the overcharging and the PP lasts so much longer. 3 trigger pulls only uses 1% of the charge. Most of the bad -Yoink- elites can be assassinated in this level and you can jump in the Pelican turret at the end of the level to kill most of the enemies in the hanger and once you are in the pelican you are indestructable.
There are some good choke points to work from too as you make your way through the rest of the level. High jacking the Wraith at the beggining is a good trick to try as well.
Give it a go. But like any LASO. Do it with friends

Nightfall, maybe. But this week’s Long Night of Solace, normally one of my favorite Campaign missions (especially on Heroic and Legendary), not so much on LASO.
I agree with Aryck. The only easy LASO level is Nightfall. Long Night Of Solace is an absolute pain to complete. First time I did it, it took almost 3 hours co-op, though I’ll admit most of that time was spent on the bridge of the Corvette (hardest part in my opinion). Should it be 30,000 cR?
I agree, LASO challenges should be worth 30,000 cr for all the work put in.

Uh-uh. I’d still get more for playing regular multiplayer or Firefight matchmaking it the same amount of time it would take me to beat the challenge.
60,000cR. No less.
30,000-60,000 cR, depending on the difficulty of the level, because some are easier than others. Take Nightfall for example. It can literally be done in 10 minutes or less. WC is fairly easy as well, and not too long a level. But for levels like LNOS and POA, the cR rewards should be much greater.

You have to do LNOS.
COMPLETELY agree. I stopped doing this challenge just for that reason. It’s not worth the time investment. If I’m going to waste 2 hours of my day playing a game, I want to be having fun.
This is exactly why I have a checkpoint save of every LASO mission I’ve done backed up to a thumbdrive. Everytime a LASO or any challenge requiring mission completion appears I just load the corresponding checkpoint and walk a few steps to end the mission.
I even have a checkpoint where I’m in the mass driver so points pyramid challenges where you have to score upwards of 100,000 points can be completed in a matter of minutes. Also for pod kettle black where I’m already at the corvette so I don’t have to waste my time defending the station and watching an unskippable cutscene everytime I just want to blow up drop pods.
LOL, ya LASO, I tried complete the game on legendary like every Halo games but because of Reach I almost got angry every minutes. This game is full of elites, and they almost indestructible on legendary, but you know that.Othewise I’ve already complete 3 level.

Halo:Reach’s Elites do present quite a challenge, especially on Legendary, but I don’t see this as a problem outside of LASO. Legendary I can handle easily enough; LASO, not so much.
I always noticed that LASO left out the blind skull–then we would really have a challenge lol

Less of a challenge, more of an irritation. See, the way I figure, a “challenge” should not only be, well… challenging, but it should also be fun. Otherwise, it’s more of “chore”. Ya’ feel me?

I feel you but for a measly 14,000 cR LNOS on LASO is a chore for me. I wish they wouldn’t pick to most difficult map for this challenge.
Great. Another LASO challenge, this time on The Package. Second week in a row. Typical…
At least it is challenge LASO, i.e. you can play without the blind skull on. I’d use the save and quit method personally, although you can use the co-op method. Whenever a LASO weekly comes up, I say “screw that” and play BTB. I get the way more cR/time through BTB than LASO challenges.
