No… not because they kill me… but because there is no first person view available in what is supposed to be a First Person Shooter.
The problem isn’t bad when driving vehicles but when flying a banshee on such small maps as Exile you lose sight of your enemy because your -Yoink- huge hull is blocking the view. It’s what always pees me off with Third Person Shooters. At least give us an option of a first person view.
Halo has never figured out whether it is a FPS or a TPS. I would prefer FPS all the way but a choice would have been acceptable. As it is, trying to fly a banshee when the -Yoink!- thing is glitching all over the sky is near impossible so I never fly them (except when I skyjack to stop the enemy doing so).
Please, please, PLEASE 343i… give us the option of first person vehicle views in Halo 5. For those Halo purists, let them have third person but for me I don’t want my big -Yoink- blocking the -Yoink!- view of the enemy.
Having your camera on the backside of the Banshee is a balancing tool? Sorry but if it is then it’s a poor balancing tool.
Having a first person view would REDUCE the view you could see which would counterbalance your argument… but it would let you see what is right in front of you. Try mounting a webcam behind your head so that your body is in the way… does that feel natural to you.
Maybe it’s because I have flown so many simulators that I no longer feel comfortable with third person. First person is just 200% more immersive. That’s why I don’t buy third person games these days… they just irritate the hell out of me. I love Halo except for the bloody flight mechanics… Wouldn’t you have loved to fly the Pelican in first person mode with your MC in the cockpit? I know I would have.
>losing sight of an enemy because your own banshee got in the way
how bad do you even have to be
On topic, I agree, make the Banshee first person, make it to where you have to look through your Spartan’s eyes at the tiny screen on the inside of the Banshee, a tiny screen that gets near-completely destroyed/obscured if you get shot more than a few times.
In fact, do this for all vehicles, it would look cool, vehicles would be slightly less OP, and the incredible amounts of mad on the forums would be a delight.

What had Crysis 2 got to do with Halo 4?
I would guess you would have a camera view like you do in current armour like the M1A1 tank but something similar to how the graphics look on a Covenant Carbine.
And yes you would lose FOV to the sides but you have radar after all. How do you think current tank drivers operate their vehicles.
The thing I am always looking for is IMMERSION in a game. If we can’t have VR at least give us first person. I love the Covenant Carbine scope graphics. Imagine something like that on a Banshee. At least then if something is directly ahead of you, you can actually SEE it and not the backside of you vehicle.
Third person ruins the immersion factor because it takes you out of your character/vehicle and turns it into a guy running a remote control toy. Just give us the choice of first or third person when driving…
I just don’t understand why people don’t want to give us the OPTION. I’m not asking to force first person after all.
