I hate Halo 5. Here's why. 343 pay attention

Halo 5 is rubbish and so is everything after Halo 3… Great now I’ve got your attention. And I hope yours too 343.
I just finished wasting my time, money and 9GB worth of my internet usage purchasing Halo 5 from my local retail outlet and I wasn’t let down as my expectations had already been punished by its predecessors Halo Reach, Halo 4 and the MCC alike. The first trilogy of Halo was the true essence of what brought us a brilliant story line, new concept and extraordinarily addictive gameplay due to its SIMPLICITY. Yes I’m yelling that keyword… Please do read on if you have half a brain cell and want a different opinion other than “oooo its so wonderful I’m having a great time”.
From what I gather it was 343’s initiative to feel as though they had to “keep with the times” to keep the franchise alive. They had to mould to peoples expectations and adapt to the new generation of gaming. And you know what? I completely agree and what a major success their new games have been. Out of this world ratings from popular online gaming sources and raving reviews from the majority of the fan boys and girls, whatever type of gamer they may be. But this is not Halo. What you see and what you control is not Halo. I am convinced of this because it was never broken in the first place. Whats that saying? Don’t fix what isn’t broken?
Halo was brilliant for its simplicity and your soul ability to be able to think your way strategically through situations. You could move, crouch, shoot and jump… That’s it!! Everyone had their own play style and all different types worked. If you were really smart with a great shot generally you were a pretty tough opponent. The fluency and intelligence you needed to move around maps was amplified by the fact you didnt have all these ludicrous abilities. In Halo 5 if you are in trouble just run away. Easy. This simple concept of the early Halo days spanned over the period of 10 years guys… 10! We had people entertained and in their seats playing Halo for 10 years with these basic and simple concepts (Halo 1 released in 2001 and Halo 3 coming to a close as reach was unfortunately released in 2010). What changed? A couple of guns here and there, graphics improvements and movement fluency to help create the more modern illusion. I personally was part of the Halo franchise from day dot til Halo 3 tapered off and I have gotten so angry and disgusted on where it has been lead to, I had to let off steam somehow.
If 343 wanted to create something entirely new, how about go create a new game with your own title. If I wanted to play this rubbish that they call Halo 4 and 5 I’d play Destiny. And guess what 343, Bungie do it better in every way shape and form hence why you hold the reigns to the disgrace that is your current disasters you’ve served up since Halo’s inevitable death in 2010. Side note: What the hell was MCC? My only chance at reliving my early enjoyment of a real game and you completely stuffed that too. Not surprising I shouldn’t be too upset, I guess you’re consistent in dishing up complete disappointment.
Here’s everything I hate about the new “era” of Halo: (keeping in mind I was a 50 across every playlist in Halo 3. I played at semi-pro level)
- Sprint: (MASTER CHIEF DOESNT SPRINT YOU PACK OF IMBECILES GO PLAY COD!!!)
- Armour abilities: just no. Keep it simple for the love of everything that is good.
- The movement and sounds: It sounds tinny, the movement is all wrong, the aiming feels slow and slippery at times, close proximity is a nightmare, melee attacks are completely inconsistent, sprint again (idiots), everything that surrounds you seems too big or something. The master chief no longer has a presence or doesn’t feel right… Wall grappling? Are you kidding me? Just pleasing the niche that is Assassins Creed fans I’m assuming. You can also throw a grenade to Egypt before it lands and kills someone which is handy when you want a quick solution to getting a grenade to a specific spot only to watch it bounce past your target while you are inevitably mown down by a force colonel with 6 trillion experience points and an AR.
- The weapons: Everything is way over powered. Die within a blink of an eye. The battle rifle at mid range against an assault rifle? I dare you to miss one shot its all over for you. The pistol resembles damage of a nuclear warhead, grenades are mini nuclear bombs, the sniper scope is just confusing (where am I when I zoom out?), did you really just snipe that dude or did you hit him in the hip and it counted as a headshot? Even when you do hit them in the head there is no gratifying medal for it? The sniper also sounds like a sick dog trying to bark, the BR no longer requires you to lead shots like in Halo 3… Technology right? No element of difficulty and skill just aim and shoot may the best man win.
- Sprint… Oh wait I mentioned that twice already? Deliberate, kill yourself. And wall grappling again for good measure.
- The story: Seriously I watched the opening scene of the campaign with my jaw resting on my thigh as I covered my eyes with my hands and peaked between my middle and index fingers. Once I actually got to start playing I was so bored and uninterested I turned my xbox off and watched a movie I had seen 3 times before. Master Chief does not even get a mention from the beginning? I mean wtf is going on? I couldn’t even bring myself to continue playing to even witness the guy. Partnered with the horrible play features likes shouldering your way through an ice wall I almost dry reached.
What is good about Halo 5:
- Not much
- The music: Probably the best it has been. Love it
- The dudes voice over who calls medals: He doesn’t sound like he’s going to have a triple bypass when he introduces the game-type
- The maps: Solid as a rock I think they are really great and work well with real Halo gameplay, even if they have been custom made so you can grapple walls. Getting angry again…
- Introduction of new features like weapon skins and customisable logos/colours: These things are a given in new games and I love them. It doesn’t effect gameplay and it gives you something to actually play for. Req points (haven’t used much because I wont play the game past the point in which I post this message) but Im sure it is also a fun concept
- Simple menu: I was so calm when I saw the menu. Had your standard Halo feel with that little difference that brought excitement when you had a new Halo release. Its too bad I didn’t care about its release in the first place as I forecasted it’s inadequacy.
So in closing the things I enjoy about Halo 5 exist in the early Halo days also. Nothing that has been brought to the table with the new Halo games have remotely interested me and I really hope I have supporters in this corner. I know most won’t but I get it… “get with the times and deal with it”. Well I won’t. I’ll go on my little rant and hate as much as I like because guess what… If you enjoy that game you’re a typical new generation gamer who just want to see everything modernised and changed. Im pure and what sells for me is simplicity and basic concepts. It’s sad that Halo will never be again and I hope with all my heart 343 go down in a cloud of smoke one day for destroying the franchise I have an emotional attachment to. I hope this was as entertaining for you to read as it was for me to vent and hate. It feels good to know my frustrations can at least be heard somewhere.
Bungie Rules.
Catch ya later.

Tl:DR version I hate that Halo has changed and I can’t except that games evolve, Halo 5 is the best halo has been since Halo 3.

Seems like you just suck right now so you are having a knee jerk reaction.

I actually read the first sentence and SMH. No you dont have my attention.

Byeeeee.

Ahahaha. Wow. Telling people to kill themselves because you hate sprint.

Get off your high horse. Or rocking horse. Whatever it is. Halo 5 is amazing. I have barely played it and yet I have enjoyed every second.

You like weapon skills yet tell people who enjoy sprint to go play CoD. The CoD that has had weapon skills way before Halo did. Lawl

So you don’t like Halo now that 343i are making it rather than Bungie. That’s fair enough and all well and good.

Except that Bungie didn’t want to make Halo anymore; they wanted to make Destiny. If the Studio is so massively important to you, go play Bungie’s current title.

sprint and armor abilities are good things, nothign but good things

Wow…

Good news, buddy. You can turn off Spartan Abilities in customs. I haven’t messed around with everything, but you can probably decrease weapon damage, too. Feel free to make H5 as much like H3 as you want. Get enough like-minded people and you can have a ton of fun.

One more thing. You praise Bungie, but they left Microsoft, they left people like you who loved Halo, just so they could make Destiny. They’re not the saints you make them out to be.

That’s why they implemented the shield recharge lock up when you sprint. I’ve tried to run away countless times. It’s not as easy as you are making it out to be. Once you get the hang of the new abilities it’s actually alot of fun.

So you played in the BETA and thought it would be completely different in the real game?

Complaining that the assault rifle kills you if you miss a shot? How about no it doesn’t perhaps you should learn to strafe and maneuver better. In short OP you just need to get good lol :).

The only problem with sprint is that people run away but the fact that their recharge timer restarts when they do running usually ends in their death sooooooo… bye

WELL SAID!

I bet you got to bronze 1. aaaand you are mad

Sprint and spartan abilities are great. They feel fresh and new and add so much to the gameplay with new mechanics… Not sure what the problem is with them? You don’t recharge your shields when you sprint anyway.

Real gamers evolve in order to play the series they love. Don’t be butt hurt about change. I played for an hour last night in multiplayer and it was super fun  I am also a veteran halo player and have been here since Halo 1 LAN.

You want some cheese with that whine?
