I Hate Halo 4's Forge!!!

Okay maybe its just me but I really dont like Halo 4’s forge. Reachs was so much better besides everything being grey lol. Let me break down my issues with forge.

1: Cant zoom in when you are in Monitor Mode…WHY NOT???

2: Cant send yourself flying when you are zooming around in monitor mode and then quickly exit monitor mode WHY NOT???

3: Some pieces looked better in Halo 4. Like Walkway Large? I think its called looks terrible in Halo 4.

4: Magnets…Thought I would love this feature but it just doesnt work. (Maybe I’m doing it wrong) I have tried Low, Med, and High power with Magnets but it just doesnt work well. Pieces dont line up properly. I have to keep dragging and letting it go hoping it snaps into place.

5: Cant click in the left stick and move pieces REALLY SLOWLY like you could on Reach. Thats a major pain in the butt.

6: Not as big of a deal but maps are to small and stuff in the way. I liked being able to forge out in the middle of the ocean or air. I like Forge World better.

Thats about it. Also you really can feel this game wasnt made by Bungie while Campaign was amazing Forge and Matchmaking just dont feel right. They are terrible. (Just my opinion so no need to get mad at me)

Anyway thoughts?

The maps being small is actually a HUGE deal.

There is little space to forge and where you can there is permanent buildings or terrain, making flat spaces too small or non-existent.
Plus, there are way too many soft-kill areas.

I don’t know how certain affinity can label these as forge maps. They look lots more like competitive maps. Especially Ravine.

I LOVE it!! Now that I’m used to it it’s very easy to use! (Try the coordinates out) While I think fine editing and zooming would improve Halo 4’s forge, I love it as is.

Maps are too small. Too many soft kill zones. Too much existing map geometry. Barely any new items.

i like impact but thats pretty much it, i wish impact was made larger could make some really cool maps on the back of the rock but the kill barriers ruin it :frowning:

I’ve been a hardcore Forger since Foundry, back then you didn’t have a lot of tools at your disposal, I really enjoy Halo 4’s Forge (I do agree that the maps should have been designed with less pre-built structure)

In my eyes the only thing I think they need is a Forge World, the maps are way to small to even do anything. Its like they dont want us to even use forge…If they aren’t going to add large maps, why even bother? No, they will make us pay for a larger forge map in DLC

He may not be a brilliant Forger but he is excellent at tutorials.

Exactly - he makes great tutorial videos. Also, he keeps well in touch with his followers via twitter.

For a good view of this, “casual forgers, Hardcore forgers, Who loves and who hates” I recomend going to Forgehub.com since it is the best forge community and has its most hardcore.

If you don’t wanna, in short, They dislike Halo 4’s forge, custom games and lack of options and gametypes on both. Don’t wanna sound like I represend a whole community so check Forgehub by yourself.

Also forgot to mention the complete removal of the active camo power-up for no reason. I hated how they destroyed active camo in Halo Reach and I hoped they would fix it in Halo 4, but instead they just removed it all together. They removed something that has been in Halos 1-3. I would like the Halo 3 camo pick-up back, NOT the Reach one. Why can’t we have both the terrible AA camo and the classic active camo pick-up? Not to mention the long list of Halo 3 gametypes that are just destroyed from removal of it from the series.

Armor Ability Camo

  • Muffled Sound.
  • Uncloaks while moving.
  • Shows up on the motion sensor as multiple blue indicators.

Active Camo Pick-Up from Halo 1-3

  • Fully cloaked at all times even while moving at full speed.
  • Uncloaks when shooting and/or melee.
  • Player shows up as a normal red enemy on motion sensor.
  • Option to turn on or off is also available when editing a gametype.

Im a Hardcore Forger and i love the new forge. I just think that people need to adapt to the new schemes. It isn’t gonna come instantly, you just need to fiddle with it. I get how magnets work now and im having no issues with it.

Honestly, I had fun in both halo 3 forge and halo reach forge. Halo 4 reminds me of both and I’m ok with that.

But I do agree that the monitor mode needs to have the zoom in feature. Don’t know why that was removed…
