I had a new playlist/gametype idea...

But it’s not do-able (I don’t think?) with the current Halo 4 weapons, so maybe a Halo 5 gametype (because I doubt 343i can or even will add more weapons to Halo 4 in the future). Since there is no “Halo 5” forum, I thought I’d post it here. It may even be just a variant of “SWAT”:

Game Variant Name: “Stealth” or “Stealth SWAT”

Weapons: Silenced Magnum (ODST), Silenced SMG (ODST), Suppressed Rifle (possible sniper rifle, not as powerful as regular sniper, not completely silent, but no visible trail, almost no sound)

No Shields
Regular Health
Wetworks Specialization (or equivalent)
No Armor Abilities (except Sprint default)
No Waypoints (so no “X” to see where your teammate died, and thus, giving away potential position of the opposition)

The idea being that it’s a silent (sort of) playlist, revolving purely around your ability to control your position, know the map, quick reflexes, and superior aim.

It would essentially be SWAT but with more than 1 weapon, and it would be more stealthy, to make things more surprising and more just about 1-on-1 combat and reflexes. It would also challenge you to control the map/know the map as best possible.

I personally would love to see something like that. I’ve been kind of thinking of something along these lines ever since I discovered SWAT back in Halo 3, but now with things like “Wetworks” and after having silenced weapons in ODST, it would make all the sense in the world, and be a perfect mirror to the fast, furious, loud & action packed gametypes like Slayer & Objective gametypes.

Thoughts/ideas?

This is not Call Of Duty…

So SWAT with a Suppressor secondary, and your TV on mute?

> So SWAT with a Suppressor secondary, and your TV on mute?

Suppressor isn’t silent, nor is it powerful enough to 1-shot someone in the head. This would be more like SWAT with silencers on everyone’s weapons, and specializations/custom settings to make sprinting/walking less noisy (but not completely silent), and waypoints turned off so that it’s more difficult to find enemies due to red “X’s” from your teammates when they die, etc.

As if any game with silenced weapons = CoD?

I’m not talking about changing the entire game here, just one game type that is the counterpart to the high-energy playlists; a more stealthy mode. And it’s not like it’s such a huge reach (no pun intended) because we already have SWAT; this would simply be a variation of that in most ways. It would still look like Halo, you’d still have Halo weapons (majority of the guns I suggested have already appeared in Halo games before), it would still control like Halo (jump height, speed, etc.).

Maybe put a BIT more thought into your response, rather than simply trying to flame for no reason?

So basically swat with silenced weapons and no waypoints?

I like it, I’ve always been a silence person, but I doubt this will happen unfortuneately.

Pretty much, and some other slight modifications. I created a gametype similar to this in Reach, but obviously without silenced weapons. It was:

  • No waypoints
  • DMR only, unlimited ammo
  • 1X Frag (obviously not silent, but it keeps things from being too stale or slow, and discourages camping)
  • Forced colour: Black (like a real SWAT team; both teams are black)
  • No shields
  • Speed: 125%, Gravity: 75% (to make it more like classic Halo)
  • No AA’s except for Spint
  • Friendly Fire: ON
  • Betrayal Booting: OFF

It works nicely, and it’s fun because you never know if someone is an enemy or teammate until you aim at them and see your reticule. It’s very similar to a real-life situation, where the enemy is not always wearing bright, easily distinguishable colours.

It causes the occasional betrayal, but when you get used to it, it happens less and less and you learn to analyze before just randomly shooting. It’s still fast-paced and action packed, but it’s way more tactical and methodical

Anyhoo, I think the forced-colour thing shouldn’t be in the new “Stealth” playlist, for obvious reasons, but maybe it would be fun as a variant playlist? Who knows. What’s the harm in trying, right?

SWAT is already pretty stealthy, but what they could do is have these kind of settings in a ‘hardcore’ playlist, where there is not only this type of swat but also in things such as ctf and oddball, that would be quite fun and offer a change to, like you said, the fast paced action of the other playlists.

True. Maybe a “Stealth” playlist master with variants inside of that, or just one “Stealth” playlist with randomly chosen gametypes to vote on (like FFA is now, but only this would be with the above additions/changes). Imagine “Stealth CTF”. How fun would that be? 1-shot headshot kills, 3 or 4 shot body-shot kills, precision weapons only (except for the Flagnum, of course, which is KIND of precise, lol).

I’d love it. And again, it’s not “changing Halo into CoD” because it’s just a gametype variant; an option, and it’s still plays like Halo/SWAT.
