I was really hopping to see the SMG in this game, but it looks like it will not be making an appearance.
The SMG would have been a great secondary weapon for this game. A fully automatic weaker gun would allow you to mix things up opposed to the single shot secondaries we see now like the magnum or PP.

But I still don’t think the SMG is back. 
Look, if there’s no dual-wielding, there’s definitely not going to be an SMG. It would be too close to the AR. Why didn’t you see this coming?

Looks that way for Halo 4 but there is always 5 and 6. I could definitely see it return as a secondary, maybe even with a suppressor to give it a unique aspect compared to the AR.
With the SAW and the AR, I highly doubt we’ll be seeing the SMG in Halo 4’s sandbox. It’s okay, it had it’s place in prior Halo games.

There was no dual wielding in ODST yet the SMG was in it…
Plus I would figure they would re-tweak it to be a secondary weapon rather than a primary. Thus making it weaker than the AR, just like how the magnum is weaker than the DMR and BR.
The SAW has more ammo, and fires faster.
Therefore scarier. Therefore better.
I’ve actually never died using the submachine-gun. Really. But I don’t play much Halo 3 though.
Lol, that sucks. I really wanted to see it make a return for Halo 4. Since the SMG will be absent from the game, I hope that the AR will be a good gun unlike the Reach AR so I don’t have to rely on the SMG.
It’s never enough, is it? Well I give props to 343i. Their first Halo game looks amazing. Weapons, vehicles, new enemies, everything. That video was amazing!
I don’t see why Halo 4 needs the SMG.
But then again, I don’t see why Halo 4 needs 3 precision weapons either.
