I got the game early

Hello,

Last week a friend of mine told me about Halo Anniversary and how 343 industries are bringing back the first Halo game. At first this excited me greatly until I realised that, for some unknown reason, I apparently already have a copt of Halo: Combat Evolved. At first I thought that maybe they had stopped selling this game in stores because it’s so old and that they would have to completely remake it and sell it again so that people who have just discovered the series would be able to purchase the first game; I quickly found out that this is not the case and that Halo: Combat Evolved is still in stores.

Perplexed, I looked into it further and found that maybe the online play is the reason they are selling the same game again considering I am unable to play combat evolved on live anymore. This, however, is also not the reason for a re-release of Combat Evolved because: a) It would cost considerably less money for 343 to open the servers for Combat Evolved again so that people can play rather than remake the entire game again and b) Because the online play uses the Reach style of gameplay which, if 343 checked, is already being used in another game called, coincidentally, ‘Halo: Reach’ which most Halo players already have.

My friend then informed me that the new graphics for the game warrants the cost of such a game even without any original, interesting or innovative gameplay components. I considered this for a little while and then realised I have a painting in my room that consists of three unicorns jumping into a waterfall and is made using sparkles and crayons. The cost of this was only $5 from a lovely girl at the markets and it makes me happy with all the pretty colours. Unfortunately, this negates my need for a $60 AUD game with the only new feature being pretty colours and better reflections so that soldiers can play with themselves while looking at their reflection in Masterchief’s viser.

Regardless, there is always a possibility that 343 have invented some sort of forgetful ray that they will install within the Halo: Anniversary box so that when the player opens the $60 dust collector they will suddenly forget that they already own a copy. If this is the case, I applaud 343’s cunning ability to earn money in a world that hates repeats.

Pardon? Halo: CE on Xbox didn’t have online play in the first place, I don’t know where you got that from.

343i is making the remake for the fans. The fans wanted a remake and 343i is giving it to us. They’re also making it for the people that got into the franchise later, the graphics of the original would be too much of a drastic change for the people that got into the game at Halo 2 or 3. So with improved graphics, people that never played CE in it’s prime can play it again and play it like a 2011 game.

its also a $40. Theyre building over the existing game with 360 title graphics, adding new features like terminals, remastering old fan favorites in basically two fashions: one for a classic feel like halo 1 with the title update, then a variant of the old map with new things to take account for armour abilities and such. i would have paid $60 for this game. honestly.

First, I want to know how you were capable of playing the original Combat Evolved over Live considering it’s never supported Live up to this point.

Second, it’s the game’s ten-year anniversary. Considering it is the original Halo game and started off this entire series as well as it being out-dated graphics-wise, it completely deserves this and doesn’t need to be original or innovative considering if it weren’t for it being the original idea and starter for the series, the other games wouldn’t even exist, or at least not as quickly as they have been released up to this point. So, I don’t see how it’s a repeat when the game has gotten a graphic upgrade as well as Live capabilities.

While I understand Australia’s monetary value is different than the United States’, I very much rather pay $40USD, or even the standard $60USD, for this when it is completely worth it, unlike Halo: ODST.

Also, not only are people getting online-enabled campaign and multiplayer finally for this game, they are also getting new multiplayer maps (which, if I remember right, can be bought separately) on top of this being something fans have been asking for since the Xbox 360s debut.

Actually, I don’t think that they will be available to DL at least right away. I think it will be like Halo 3’s Mythic Map Pack 2, where it will come out originally on the disk exclusively and some months later will be available for DL.

That’s what I was talking about, lol. Oh no, I actually doubt this would be released as DLC before at least four months pass. The only way I’d see 343i doing that right away would be to allow members a more convenient way to get the maps after about two months of the game being out.

I’m quite a fan of Halo: Combat Evolved myself and understand the need for better graphics. I once played Pacman which, because of the lack of shiny surfaces and colours, was unable to play the game properly and asked the people who made the game for an exact replica of it except for a graphics update. I then requested for the game to be sold to me at more than half the price of the original Pacman and have an added multiplayer of another game that is exactly the same so it is understandable that people who have just discovered Halo are incapable of playing it because of poorly coloured surroundings.

I don’t think that you can find Halo: Combat Evolved brand new into a store anymore, well at least in my own country that it. Plus, Halo Anniversary Edition is different from the original Halo: Combat Evolved.

The servers for Halo: Combat Evolved never existed, and the PC ones seem to be perfectly online to my knowledge. While the use of the Halo: Reach engine is the most simple and easy to go choice for 343 Industries. (Otherwise it would be a more time consuming project)

Look I don’t understand why you have to mention the pretty girl at the market or the price or whatsoever. I’m a fan of the Halo: Franchise and I like Halo: Combat Evolved as much as I will love Halo: Anniversary Edition.

I believe you are talking about yourself. Me and my friends always wanted a remake of the original Halo which uses better and more artistic graphics, and I believe what 343 is making is worthy, not just for the nostalgia and to remind us of the good old days, but also introduce new players into the franchise.

OP you just left me speechless. facepalm
