I got banned, is this permanent?

So I got banned from online play because I was afk during a match on accident. Is this permenant and if it is is there a way to get unbanned?

It shouldn’t be permanent; bans increase in duration with each offense but generally start off short, with the exception of particularly egregious offenses.
Halo 5 should tell you the duration on the ban screen.
