for a week apparently. I thought that Bungie doesn’t monitor Halo 3’s online matchmaking anymore. What I did was I de-rank and get negative experience, and de-ranked on Lone Wolves. Is that the reason I got banned? Another reason I hear u can get banned from matchmaking is if u stay idle on the matchmaking lobby for too long. The thing about me de-ranking is, that I’ve done it for a long time when I got back into halo 3 in january and never got caught. is that the reason I got banned or something else? any help will be appreciated, thanks
Well I got banned permanently so consider yourself lucky. Don’t do anything stupid you WILL regret it like I do every time I play Halo 4 wishing I can go back to Halo 3.

Bungie must’ve made a pretty strong ban hammer. They don’t even control that game and they still banned you lol.

LoL. How does de-ranking even help you? Honestly whats the point?
He isn’t actually good at the game, but still wants to make it look like he is good. So he deranks himself to play with nubs who suck. Then once he has beat all of the noobs out as far as rank goes and he starts playing anybody who he deems a challenge he just rinses and repeats.
I’m not bad at the game at all, I’m actually fairly good. and I only did it on one playlist which was Lone Wolves. idk why but i just liked to beat up on noobs, and then when I’d take a break I’d play Team Slayer, where i reached as high as 42 (I’m a 39 now) so I play there for some competition. but yeah since Bungie doesn’t even watch over the game and they still banned me, I’m going to stop doing it.
I mean I guess I could understand it if you are rank locked and some how de-ranking makes it so you can rank up again without having to win 30 games in a row. Still seems kinda pointless to me. Id rather just get a new account.
It’s alright, it’s only a week. I’m just going to play on my brothers account and play some COD as well. My XBOX Live runs out this Monday too so I’m going to have to get a new 3 month live

If you were standing still in matches not participating then the ban hammer will catch you. More than likely by deranking you were not playing the entire match.
I’d participate in matches, and once I win the game I would quit out.
You can get a ban for Quitting and De-ranking. Dont think for one minute though that no one is watching. The controls of the ban hammer were handed over to 343i last year and nothing has changed. They have not made any alterations to it because it simply just works. An extract from BS Angel’s post in the Reach forum may explain it better. Pay attention to the third point.
Types of violation include, but are not limited to, the following example actions:
• Manipulating network conditions to give yourself an advantage, or to the detriment of the experience for other players.
• Modifying your Xbox 360 hardware or game software and services in any way.
• Skill, EXP, or Credit Boosting, deleveling, idling through games, cheating, habitual quitting or any other type of unsociable and unsportsmanlike behavior.
• Impersonating a Bungie, 343, or Microsoft employee on Xbox LIVE with intent to defraud or cause harm to other players.
Yeah stop doing anything like (e.g. Quitting out, intentional suicides etc) that and play the game as it should be

If you’ve been banned, you’ve been banned for a reason. They don’t just unban you for asking. You’ll never learn your lesson otherwise.
