First of all this is in now way a bashing thread.
I found that the promethean knights and crawlers are souls of humans was kinda ridiculous. That kind of stuff does not sit right with halo imo, its too fantasy like. And the fact the didact can use “the force” type powers is also ridiculous, the forerunners are very powerful beings as we have always known but I only seem the as powerful because of their high intelligence and technology.
I know we knew very little about them before the books but it still seems like its too over the top. The whole putting soles into robots and constructs and have minds powers is very silly imo.
Again i am not bashing or flaming just stating a concern i have.
The prometheans don’t actually contain the souls of humans. The composer is just is just able to take their memories and basically turn them into AIs, but the actual body is destroyed. And the didact’s force isn’t really a natural power. His suit is able to create and control gravity fields, which is why it looks like telekinesis.
It’s not really a soul in the way people think about it today. More like a digitized version of the persons mind and personality. Kind of how cortana was created using a cloned version of dr. halsey’s brain.
it’s easy to call it a soul and avoid having to clarify too many technical details for, as palmer would say, non-“eggheads.”
Its super alien technology. Of course it doesn’t make an ounce of sense. We’re like dumb bouncing primates compared to the Diadact
Not souls, it take their beings and composes them into data. the Knights are a perversion of that data.
And the Didact using the force power is actually unexplained. I assume he has gained control of psychokinesis because well, HE IS A FORERUNNER WARLORD.
I thought humans were descended from forunners. The whole reclaimer deal humans having to activate the rings why humanity was right to oppose the covenant and why the covenant wanted us wiped out.
I saw the didact and was like seriously another elite monster race? Knights with dogs and parrots like wtf thats really dumb. That whole orange ball thing set me off. Something about a gaint orange ball idk seemed so -Yoinking!- stupid, luckily I experienced the mantis for the first time to distract me.
And why all the orange? All throughout the halos their left over ruins were blue blue blue. It was set in stone, humans were green(go army) covenant was purple, and forunners were blue. I mean in H3 when the covenant join forces their phantoms had a green gloss on them lol. Cortana is forunner technology she is blue because she is forunner.
What about all that stuff about the flood the very reason for the rings in the first place and you’re to tell me humans were more advanced than foreunners at that time and were cleansing them of the flood infection. So then wtf do humans have to do with anything then. We’re just a bunch of random -Yoinks!- always foiling great civilizations for no reason. Yeah I was so disappointing after waiting so long to get a glimps for the forunners.
-Yoink- in the animes they were all skinny humans with gas masks.
First of all, Crawlers and Watchers are just AI, not Composed humans. Secondly imagine this: You go to sleep, and wake up in a new body. That is what happened to the humans. Their minds were taken out or their bodies and put into immortal systems that can generate new bodies.
To be honest, I miss the original trilogy. All this Forerunner, Didact stuff is something out of Mass Effect or Star Wars… but just my opinion.
Actually… taking a human consciousness and putting it into a computer is something science is actually trying to research and they think it’s a strong possibility. I know this because Morgan Freeman told me…
But seriously, I didn’t mind the Promethean’s being born from Ancient humans knowing that it isn’t that far-fetched of an idea.

Midnight really felt too Starwarsy to me, but other than that, the storyline felt okay for the Halo universe to me.
