I feel the game is failing at a few things but most importantly, overall speed

Speed. Patience. Newer players…

Hear me out for a moment.

I’ve been playing halo since the day I got the demo unit in at the funcoland I managed back in 01. Just getting that out of the way, im a fan and the only games that took me away from this franchise were some cods, and destiny.

As of right now I personally think the respawn time in certain modes is too slow and have found myself on a ton of occasions spamming my controller like GET ME BACK IN. As for how long of a time. I don’t know, but it has to be shorter in objective games.

I have a 8 year old, and a 16 year old and both are complaining about how slow the game feels, from ttk, to sprinting, to respawn.

I’ve tried to explain how halo is played. What makes it fun, but to this newer gen of players, its all about instant gratification, I hit this, this happens. Dopamine hits over n over.

Halo infinite in its state doesn’t do this.

Halo infinite in its current state gives no meaning to its emblems, colors, armor pieces, in such a way you care about earning them. Such as in destiny even though in halo they’re just cosmetic.

This is just scratching the surface of a few problems I think need to be addressed if they want to grab cod, fortnite, destiny players , and this is the most important time. Launch.

I just feel this game is going to be forgotten and the diehards will be the only ones left a year from now, infinite pbp in its current state is not what the market wants.

How is the TTK too slow? Its the fast TTK that makes the respawn time feel so long.

I think a happy medium is definitely possible. Id say a 25% speed boost to sprint and a 10% speed boost to sliding is what needs to happen. As for TTK, I think every non-power weapon needs a buff in damage, save for the Sidekick, AR, and VK-78 Commando, which I think are good where they are.

I see what you’re saying, but I don’t agree that trying to make the game less-halo to appeal to the COD/fortnite player is actually a good goal.
Being free to play I’m actually a bit worried about those type of instant gratification players becoming a large part of the playerbase and filling up objective gamemodes with people that just run out and shoot people, ignoring the rest of the team. It certainly doesn’t help that you can’t choose specific playlists right now.
I think infinite will do just fine with the people that have loved halo for the past 20 years, plus the newcomers who like the combat loop enough to stay.

Well to me it seems fine, to them compared to cod which is pretty much instant at this point. The game feels slow, boring, you have to stick with someone. This sucks is what I have been hearing over my shoulder in the game room.

Remember this is a generation of kids who go from game to game to game multiple times daily, have a tik tok attention span.

I’m talking in terms of growing the audience going forward.

If they don’t like slower FPS games, then they shouldn’t play it.

I don’t think it’s even a question of generation. There’s a probably a bunch of teenagers who prefer slow pace. I know I was. I’m only 23, and I never liked CoD and such.

A game doesn’t need to please everyone. Halo should stay Halo, people who like its gamplay will naturally come.

Please none of this. You’re just asking for Halo 5 again.

I’ve tested it in custom games, the sprint is actually the same as walking speed, it needs to be about 25% faster, which is still slower than Halo Reach by the way. I don’t want crazy enhanced movement booster packs and wall running, or an insanely fast sprint and long distance slide, I’m simply asking for a slight buff to make getting around in BTB a little easier because right now sprint is next to useless.

Sprint is 9/10 % faster than walking speed, it has been proved by several videos.

Sprint is useless, because classic players like me don’t want that in our Halo game. If you need to move faster, grab a vehicle, or use the Grappleshot. I don’t want any H5 or CoD elements in my Halo.

You just said you’re 23, I wouldn’t quite call you classic. When you’re gray and balding then come talk about being classic. I’m just messing with ya.

I see your point about not catering to the other types of fps players but if you want sustainability, and most importantly for msoft return on investment, they can’t cater to the hardcore halo player. That’s just the way it is, you have to follow trends or risk being niche.

I agree about not catering to the COD players out there. Halo has always been different and it should maintain that. Go play COD if you want that type. I have a few friends who are epic COD players, who rage quit at Halo all the time lol.

well good thing there are other games with faster ttk and speeds for people who do not like halo style gameplay and you and your kids are free to play them instead. But thats the beauty of having diversity in games and style. Not every game should fit 1 style like some cookie cutter mold. That would be horrible and boring. I much preffer halos style of game play and i like high ttk forcing actual gun battles, accuracy and out shooting enemies rather than the twitch shooting i saw u first and shot your foot so i win style. Halo doesnt need to change to fit one prefered style, halo should be halo and people who dont like it have other options to play.

Well I am young but I grew up watching my brothers play Unreal Tournament, and Halo 2 was my first FPS, so it shaped my tastes.

My point is that it’s not a good thing to follow trends. A game should as unique as it want, because there will always be players interested by what it has to offer.
