I feel like the only person who likes Overgrowth..

I love how this map feels like a close quarters combat sorta map. Usually in Halo we get open spaces with lots of vantage points. In overgrowth, it feels much more claustrophobic.

While at first, it feels like you’re running around in a maze, once you memorize the map and its choke points, it’s very easy to control the flow of the game. I think a lot of people don’t like it because they are unsure what to do so they end up running around getting picked off by a sword or shotgun. This map demands team work and communication, spreading too thin and not covering each other’s backs and angles guarantee defeat.

Cheers 343!

+1 for overgrowth. Can be frustrating at times when the other team has the sword and is covering themselves well and your team is spread all out, but agree it takes some skill to navigate well and a good team to co-ordinate well. Constantly clustering together is not always an advantage as I have managed double+ kills when I come around back of a cluster of 4 so intensely firing on my other teammates they don’t even notice me running up on them from behind.

It’s just another Arena map for me. THAT SAID, I don’t find anything particularly wrong with any of them.

I also personally hate blaming a map for something I don’t like.

I’m not saying you’re doing that!! I just see that a lot about “oh X map sucks” posts.

Same. The fight for the sword and shotgun make for intense fire fights. If a team is good enough to hold the camo/shotgun spawn and sword spawn (“green room”), then game over mate.

You just pointed out why so few people like the map
The weapon spawns are completely unbalanced for starters
Blue team spawns directly on top of camo and shotgun, have a 50/50 chance of being the first team to sword and most of the time get first crack at railgun as well
so the blue team will undoubtably start out with at least 10 kills beforeeither they kill the sword guy or the shotgun runs out of ammo
now or add that with those narrow corridors you mentioned that promote campy corner crouching game play (which I find really ironic because this is exactly what the anti-BR START crowd complains about “campy” gameplay) and makes Spartan charge that much more aggravating because it’s nearly impossible to avoid
in in my opinion at least it’s probably the worst map since snowbound in H3

you are

I honestly can’t stand overgrowth

Love it in seat. Just walk around with my gun rectical and head level and shoot any time I see an enemy

The map its self i love. The claustrophobic feel and the sense of apprehension as you round a corner, it really slows the game down. Saying that i agree the shotgun/camo horribly unbalances the game and 343 should seriously consider removing the shotgun IMO. But playing SWAT on Overgrowth is a highlight of Halo 5 for me.

I don’t see it, I don’t think it is bad at all.

Not really, considering the sword is placed at the 90 degree intersection of two hallways, meaning people are just blindly nading around the other corner. A lot of the corner camping would be alleviated if the hallways curved at the ends instead of being flat angles, but I digress.

Unpopular opinion but I think the layout itself is okay. Not great, but okay. As you said it’s one of the few maps someone can actually control, instead of being the typical map where you can clamber and thrust into any room from any angle.

The weapons on it though break an otherwise acceptable map.

Nah man, I like Overgrowth too.

Its a great map if you spawn blue…

I love the map. It just needs some weapon placement changes. Blue Team has too great of an advantage at the start of the game.

I like the map the details are amazing but the spawns suck

Blue Team can get to the sword a few seconds faster, which makes a huge difference. They can also just run straight to get the shotgun and immediately jump over the ledge to get the cloaking before Red Team can even see it… Boom cloaked Shoty at the start of the game #overpowered. Both Red and Blue Teams can get to the Rail gun at the same time; but with the help of a cloaked shoty, Blue Team can get it more easily. If 343 would just “re-strategize” the weapons placements, Overgrowth would be one of my favorites. For now, if you play a team the knows these flaws, it becomes almost impossible to win as Red Team.

No you are not the only one TC, I like it too and I played with people who liked it as well.

I like it well enough. It’s a great swat experience.

It’s a poor map for team play due to how segmented the map is, and poor for individual play because it typically comes down to campy encounters where one person is on the receiving end of a 1SK power-weapon…

It is very difficult to turn the tide…
