I feel like i have no more reason to play

Let me start off by saying this isn’t a “screw this game and screw everyone I’m leaving” post. Ive loved halo 5 since its release and I was very skeptical about it with the hellstorm that was halo 4. I don’t want to leave.

However, I feel like I have no reason to play anymore.

And its because I completed the current req system. My goal was to just get to the end which I’m sure is most peoples goals too, and that made me think about something.

Its a grind, we know this, but I’m starting to get that feeling of, “why should I play this now that ive completed the req system?”

Let me say that this is the ONLY game ive ever felt this way and it really really bothers me. I love online gaming and I love to just play, but for some reason, it feels like a chore now to put the game in my xbox to play. I would just rather play rainbow six and ive fully completed that to. all attachments, all operators, but its still fun to play. I just cant get myself to actively WANT to play halo 5 anymore.

Is there any one else whos had this issue?

Maybe some one out there who can maybe tell me why I might feel this way?

I still love halo 5 and even with this feeling ill continue to play it till the updates are said and done, but now that I’m done with the current, I just see no point in playing even if its just to have fun.

Help :C

Your probably getting burnt out from playing too much Halo. Take a break, play another game, then come back to Halo 5 later and try out different gamemodes. Try something new instead of just grinding for REQ’s. If you grind for REQ’s on a gamemode that you enjoy, it probably won’t get boring as fast and once it does, just take another break from Halo or try another gamemode.

I just play to get better. The whole population has gotten better since launch. Set you’re own goal and reach it. Thats why people play the bricks off of minecraft.

I usually just play warzone and I quit enjoy it. Ive been in love with fiesta (too fun) but you might be right that I’m getting burnt out though ive burnt myself out of games before and it was a different feeling if that makes sense. Ill give this a shot give it a few days or even till the next update. I’m hoping ive not just subconsciously had it with the game :C

Play for fun, not for the grind.

This. I’ve been playing pretty much since October, with some breaks for other games, but mainly Halo b/c of the REQs and commendations. Definitely burns you out after a while. Happened before with other Halo games. But after playing something else for while, especially if you can play something a little different from FPS, it helps

when you take that break then come back GRIND FOR ACHILLES  or join another spartan company and see what clans are out there and try to join their community. some clans do a lot of custom games and role playing which is pretty fun in the right circumstances. i had lots of fun in a clan i used to be with in reach! and what about forge!? forge with some buds, once you get to understand the control scheme, forge gets fun. i have recently done this myself lol

I understand. The commendations and req packs kept me into it for a long while. I’m about 80-90% on both now. Enough to where the remaining reqs are just variations of the same stuff I have and the remaining commendations are a chore. I still enjoy arena slayer, it’s just a quick game of shooting something, but I’m not as drawn in as I was for bf4. There is a wacky, fun element missing in H5. It’s all business, perfect kill, no messing around shooting. Warzone was uncontrolled crazy fun in the beginning but now it’s all tactics and no goofing off (to play differently invites getting farm killed). Burnout can come quickly.

It may be a grind, but it’s still worth playing in the long run.

Remember when video games were played simply for fun and entertainment and not because you had to unlock stuff or be constantly rewarded with digital trinkets in order to play them… Pepperidge farm’s does…

Jump on and make a 1 v 1 arena and challenge someone.
Build an awesome ship in Forge that can be used for Slayer.
Play Warzone using only vehicles/Pistol/Camo/whatever.

Play some custom games with people online. There’s alot of cool user created game modes that are a blast to play with people.

with the division coming out tomorrow I’m so relieved that I won’t have to play halo for a long long time and with DS3 in april I probably wont come back until firefight comes out.

they need to change warzone boss spawn times and locations, it’s become so boring to me now. I’m only playing now to grind RP and thats it.

That’s the problem with these “incentive” driven game systems. If the gameplay itself doesn’t have enough merit, they try to give you some “other” reason to grind through it. When the reason is gone, the game can’t stand on it’s own feet.

Think about a kid who runs to the basketball court down the street every chance he gets to play hoops. The loves the game. There are no medals, armor, game history, KD ratio, emblems, announcers, or any other hype. He plays the game for the sake of the game itself. For a moment in time and period of fun that it provides WHILE you’re playing the game. When you’re done, you’re done, and the next day you come back for more.

The early Halo’s were like this. Then as stats & game history and rare armor etc were added to the game people’s motives and concerns started to change. I’ll sadly admit that I make decisions based on KD and that bothers me. I’m not strong or enlightened enough to overcome it and not care but I am intelligent enough to recognize it’s there and why it’s there.

You made REQ’s your reason for playing the game and now that it’s gone you can’t appreciate the fun.

I feel the same way man, the game is a chore to play, and it just feels so empty and boring. When I do play to see the new playlists or because my friends are play I don’t even have any motivation to do well, because it just feels like what’s the point, there’s not enough incentive for me to wanna do well anymore.

Take a break, then come back when the next update hits. No harm in that.

burnt out, give it a 2 week break and you might find yourself wanting to play. Happened to me, and after about a 3 week break i came back and am loving to play again

5 years ago, I said on the Bungie forum that credits were a glorified skinner box that may get some players addicted in the short term but will ultimately date the game based on how quickly it’s possible to unlock everything. 5 years later, after countless people have called me a dumb stupid doo-doo head for that statement in regards to credits (and indeed req points), I’m totally vindicated.

I recommend a breather.

No! You are scaring me. I have the same goal and I am super close to being 100% req. all I need are a few armor and helmets and the prophets bane then I am done. I want to be finished but I’m also scared because then I won’t have goals. Well I’ll try to get to level 152.
